Default Whats the point of Modifying a car?

Last night after I did an illegal street race with a Turboed K24 bottom end K20 Type S head EP3 civic from a roll and beat him(barely), It dawned on me "what the **** is the point and what am I doing with my life" Unlike most people Ive been obsessed with my car and being the fastest and beating whom ever in what and for the first time tonight I look back and ask myself "For what". Ive studied, bled, spent countless hours making my car what it is today and for what? What the hell do I have to show for it but a bucket of metal that can one day be taken away from me in a crash or by the Repo guy if I loose a job. Why the hell did I care so much about a damn thing and what other people thought of me when I drove it. Was I insecure or just flat out stupid and neive. I dont know, but what I do know is that from now on I will not do a single more mod to my car for awhile. I will sell everything and turn my car back to stock. I will take the money I earn and the time I save to discover new things in life. Adios Nasioc!

So you modified your car for a street race and realized that's stupid?

Where have you been?

Do you really talk like you type, or do you just like pretending to emulate a cheesy stereotype?

for fun. i enjoy it. I'm not competing with anybody or trying to win anything. When i race [on tracks/autoX] i don't care about where i rank, i'm out there for the thrill of speed and trashing tires.

I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their BS. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free.

I'm building a RX-7 race car, that I plan to race competitively. I like working on cars, problem solving, optimizing, etc. I enjoy racing, and I enjoy winning. The Legacy doesn't win in it's current form. (Stupid SCCA classing) Granted, I love autoxing the Legacy because it's really fun to drive.

I spent money on the Legacy in the areas of: ECU, tires. I got the Cobb AP because I wanted more power since I got the automatic instead of the manual. I wanted better tires because RE92s suck. I plan on getting an uppipe and a downpipe to further increase power, as well as a set of sway bars to reduce body roll. This won't happen until I'm out of college and/or done with the RX-7 though.

I don't care what other people think of my cars. I wouldn't have gotten a wagon if that were the case. My posessions are catered for my enjoyment.

I am going to race my Kia Rio (or similar) this week in houston. Ill try to do wheelies too. I purchased a case of Taz (tasmanian devil) stickers a while ago so I can put them on every rental car I drive. Its a way intimidating my rivals.

FTW

lol you just mad cuase you barely beat the k series bolt on bug

j/p on a more serious note, yea, theres no point in making your car fast... becuase fact of the matter is, no matter how fast you make it, boom someone around the corner with more money and more worthless time is just gonna be faster and woop ya a knew one. I've gotten to the point where as long as its fast enough for me (not for racing) then im fine with it.

To make my car "different" than all the rest out there...to put my personal signature on it.

To accentuate what it does well, or attempt to enhance what it doesn't do so well.

Because it helps me understand how my car works and gives me better grounding on repairing it when something goes wrong.

FYI...I drive a Dodge Dakota pickup with 145K miles on it now. Not like I am racing this thing ANYWHERE.

I modify my car to make it a better car, and because i'm not happy with it.

If I was happy with a car and thought it could not be better, I would not modify it (Ferrari)
