I have a 04 STI, does my upgraded alarm have a starter cut if the alarm goes off? Where is the module, my alarm is not sensitive at all, takes me three or four hard bump to get it to go off. Interested since i just bought it and if not i might put a kill switch in.

I know the 05 come stock with a immobilizer. Im so afraid someone will steal my new baby.

Yes, your car has a starter interupt....the module should be located under the drivers side dash near the fender wall.

The module for the alarm should be under the drivers side dash. Just because you don't have a remoted doesn't mean you have to buy a whole system. If there is already one in the vehicle (I can check and see if it was factory installed) you just need to get a remote and have it programmed. THe horn is also used with the keyless entry system to let you know you have locked the car, it doesn't mean you have an alarm

I checked both places. I did some research and the FCC ID of some older Subaru models match the SAAB ID. The idea being that the Subaru models are cheaper than the ones at SAAB.

So, need to know if that place is decent (saw some carping online about them) and whether if the FCC ID matches, it will work with my SAAB even though it's a Subaru remote.

If they look the same, they should work. Do you know anyone that has a Subaru with a remote like yours? You could try theirs to be sure.

If the alarm goes off, the start interupt is enabled

I have a quick question- my remote's panicking option works from like, 30 feet away. But sometimes, locking and unlocking the car I need to be 10-15 feet away, and sometimes it doesn't respond until I press it like 3-4 times in succession. Faulty remote, bad batteries, need a reprogramming?

I would try a battery first, the least inexpensive option. They are available anywhere watch batteries are sold....Walmart is pretty cheap.

Your system does work as described in the very first post. Your owners manual will tell you how to get it out of valet mode. I have not mastered how to do that one yet

Try section 2-8

I don't think that's correct. I believe the 05 WRX (same car as the SAAB) has teardrop shaped remote (correct)?? While mine is the roundish type of shape.

Also, I figured that FCC ID would be a better indicator of frequency match than shape of the fob.

Correct, the 2005 remote for the WRX is teardrop shaped. If you have an irregular round shape remote, it might be similar to the 2004 WRX remote.

Does your remote look like the one in the first post of this thread? (button colors might be gray)

Yep - it looks like the one in the first pictures EXCEPT that the buttons are not colored -the buttons and the whole unit are 100% black. I think it's the Forester/WRX remote from 2004.

Can someone give me the FCC ID off the back of one of the 2004 WRX remotes that look like this one:

One more question regarding the programming instructions:

For 2001-2006 Models:
(the oblong remote with either 2 grey buttons or a blue and orange button)

**Make sure all windows, doors, hood and trunk are closed.
**Get in and close the door.
**Turn the key in the ignition to the 'ON" position 10 times within 15 seconds
**You should hear the horn/chirp
**Open and close the drivers side door.
**Press one button on the remote
**Open and close the drives side door
**If you have other remotes, repeat the last 2 steps for all remotes
**Remove key from the ignition
**The horn should beep/chirp again
**Check remote(s)

My horn works, but my beeper stopped working a long time ago (the electronic lock/unlock beeper behind the grille). Am I still going to be able to program the remote without being able to hear that little chirper???

I'm sure the instructions don't really mean that the HORN is going to sound (maybe I'm wrong).

You should not have a problem, it is the horn that beeps.

I bought a factory keyless from eBay and it works perfectly! Thanks for the info! Only $25 shipped! To be honest...I don't think I opened my door after turning the key to the on position and pushing the unlock/lock button lol. But it still works! All I believe I did was, got in my car, had all doors unlocked, turned key 10 times, horn, pushed the unlock button, I think horn went off after this?, then took my key out, went outside, and boom! Now I can lock/unlock my doors

I got a question. I recently had someone break into my car and someone tried stealing it. I know i just asked all these questions but in the area i live in i guess i was right. Well the steering column was busted up and the ignition cylinder was hanging down....so my guess is they got into the car tried starting it after they got the cylinder off but failed since the alarm went off and the starter cut activated. I woke up the next morning to see this and my heart just sank if you know what i mean.

Well i went part searching and asked on some local forums and i got a cylinder+switch all of it for like 120 bucks. Of course it dont come with a key so i had to call and make one. Well after i thought about it....i think i set myself up. If the part i bought was out of another stolen sti could they trace it back to me and try getting me for it??? maybe im over-reacting, but im just worried about that now. The guy seemed real skittish and wanted me to get and go, no questions.

What do you guys think, any advice?

I just wanted to confirm for all my homies out there with Saab 9-2X vehicles that the following Subaru remote keyless entry works with our cars (in case you're stupid like me and lost a remote).

FCC ID : - A269ZUA111
Subaru Part # 88036ae060
TRANSMITTER KEY LESS $50.25

The only difference is the button color and of course it says Subaru. I ordered mine from http://www.subaruparts.com Beats the $160 price at the stealership.

rexygirl,

great job with your thread....
one thought for you though, there have been a large number of "chirpers" that have failed in a number of models.. you might want to at least make that as an option for your faq answers....

here's a thread regarding it... (it's for the 04's but our 07 fxt had this same problem, fixed under warranty)

Thanks for the idea....

I thought about that when I wrote this, and hopefully addressed it when I mentioned valet mode. If there is a mechanical issue with the chirper then that is a different topic, but at least I can cross reference that thread. (which I am very familiar with....)
