Yeah, having driven both in Massachusetts winters, I'm not sure which is worse.

LSD definitely helps in snow, whether FWD or RWD.

I just did a 4.5 hour drive. Much of it was twisty. Every single got d mafk time, the slow poke was in some chintz CUV. Not the top stuff with the V8 or a turbo or something. Chintz ones with 4 bangers. Oh my. Might have been the most f bombs I’ve ever used in one drive. They drive me insane. I’ll never understand the fascination with these damn things. They could have bought a Prius instead, had the same room, etc, and you can mash the pedal in one of them and still sip fuel.

I have to think it is all about the ground clearance. When the CUV's practically eliminated the gas mileage disadvantage of the SUV people wanted extra ride height.

I mean Pre, you know as well as I do, in Houston Ground clearance is nice when things get wet.

Not saying I love CUV's, but if I put myself in others shoes, I can at least understand them from a certain point of view.

They could have bought a Prius, but then you'd complain about the poops driving slow in the Prius.

I'll give you a hint...it's got nothing to do with the vehicle.

Truth about prius or any make or model. Those of us that feel the pain of Pre's post and relate would never put another driver in that situation! You go at least the limit, or pull out when provided the lane/turnout on any road, esp in the twisties.

Hello gentleman - feel like I know most you. Been on this forum since an about 10 years when I picked up a wrx hatch, registered as a member years later, swapped the wrx for a 19 sti, sold it in earlier this year to make room for the GR. I am with you Pre.

P.S. learned how to use the ignore function for a famous member. If I started a pole you all would know.

From what I've experienced, the SUV, and subsequent CUV craze isn't so much about ground clearance as much as it is a "commanding view of the road"; essentially, the higher seating position is more important to the general public than ride height is, as they can see more from their vantage point.

Not trying to minimalize the "lifestyle" craze of late, but the 90's & early 00's weren't so much about glamping, dogs & "love"

Yeah I knew that but wasn’t sure how much it would help in snow. My Si was a solid improvement on the Civic Sport hatch in the snow.

I've been in contact with a few dealers. No one is doing deposits or waiting lists.

I *suspect* they're keeping a list of people who want these and then when they get an allocation in, highest bidder gets it regardless of when you contacted them.

I hate car dealers.

I've been in pretty regular comms with a dude at a dealer who "isn't keeping a list" and I fully suspect it'll be a highest bidder type deal, and not a good timing lucky guy type deal.

the market is getting softer as the days go by, I know this car is going to be mostly immune from that, but it might dial things back from crazy town.

If dealers truly are only getting 1 each, they are for sure going to the highest bidder.

Incorrect. Old school Prii people ain’t like the fresh ones. So no, I wouldn’t simply be complaining about the vehicle. It would be dual fold, like it’s always been. The CUV is a flying brick. The same d bag doing the same drive in a passenger car, of any kind, and especially with a chintz 4 banger, is easier to get around. It’s easier to pass, accelerate on the “outside”, and just distance yourself from, out of safety. It’s easier to see around, especially for those choosing to navigate with a real vehicle.

What do you want, the personal side, or the vehicle itself? Choose. The vehicle itself is a pile. It’s not aerodynamic. It doesn’t have power, or chassis, or brakes, or anything worth a flying F. And that’s the one, to your second point. Well then who is pushing that? To get a POS truck cafe rated, then push the F out of it. Then market idiots on why they need it? That is a complicated exponent with Dip S written all over it by every angle and why it came up and I chimed in. It ain’t just Layer 8.

perhaps my biggest complaint with the truck/cuv craze. Drive a vehicle like the GRC and you're often blind to traffic ahead of you in stop and go type traffic. I will very frequently pass trucks and large uv's that are already going a reasonable speed just so I can see around them.

I just got my first allocation, at MSRP, and I’m turning it down.

Wrong spec?

I am supposed to get a test track ride in a GR Yaris this week. We'll see if I can get into Motomachi as well. I'd love to see them rolling down the line.

I did find out yesterday that I won't be able to order a Circuit or Morizo, but the core should open up soon.

CE's don't even get built until the Spring. Pushing any allocations until summer. If I can't get what I want, then this time next year I'll be ready to take a loaded core. Should also know what the special edition MY2024 will be should I want to push for that. This is a Vegas table at this point.

Ah, ok, didn’t know you were dead set on a CE. I’m planning on loaded Core.

I just toured the G16E engine line and took a ride in a GR Yaris (owned by a guy that was an engineer for the line). Such a cool car.
