My guess is this is what happened. They took pictures and told her the price after showing her. All in the hour it took to change the oil. Printed out a quote and everything.

She called me while she was still there and they told me over the phone specifically that the car has a 3 year, 36k warranty and if we didn't have extended warranty it was out of pocket.

Why they'd try it when they get to bill Subaru anyway is a bit confusing for me. Maybe they didn't have a loaner?

I have a good list of things I dislike and will "dread" not having when I get my Outback next year. I genuinely want to hear detractors. Especially when they are "repulsive" cause that is just off a different trail than the standard.
Subaru design team just isn't hitting it. The front end looks bad. For being a midsize SUV it is way too big, mostly taller than a Forester should be. The rear doors swing nice and wide, so I guess that's a plus.

And maybe it isn't especially tall compared to previous years, but something about the proportions just makes it look tall. Not in a good way.

Got it. Don't think you'll like the Outback then.

If it's looks, that's fine. I do dislike that the front is really similar to one vehicle and the back to another. Overall, I like the clean look; but, really wish they could come up with a more unique design. Of course there will be design trends that all manufacturers share. But, the Forester does have "too much" in common. I LOVE the Outback; but, you'll see something similar happen with it outside of the current obviousness.

Nothing you care for. They are not trying to appease customers like you. It drives really well and is doing better than the competition in safety and the "overrated" AWD you keep complaining about continues to prove to be better than the competition. Over and over and over again. That must just climb into your crawl and wiggle around, doesn't it .

Oh, and the Hybrid will just enhance that.
You are biased AF towards these cars due to your employment with Subaru. Nothing you say is ever subjective. I don’t think the car rides well at all. It’s still loud inside and slow AF. The Hybrid is going to be a waste of money and will require driving until the CVT grenades to recognize any cost savings.

These cars are pure garbage. I don’t care if they sell. I’m glad I got my 20 when I did but I’ll never again buy anything from this dumpster fire of a company unless they pull some kind of crazy Hail Mary with a new STi or a sporty turbo SUV that doesn’t take 10 seconds to get to 60.

Due to my employment......

Haven't been around long, have ya.
The dealership is not my primary job. I work there BECAUSE I love Subaru. Been around them since 1980. Being on here nets me zero $$$. You hate them now? Slow AF now?

"I don't care if they sell"

What's that old saying? "Cool story bro".

Meh. Put him on ignore after that last tantrum. Can't seem to understand why someone hangs around bitching about something they hate sooooooo much and refuses to buy. Free country and all that sure. Fine. But, seriously. Why?

B/c sitting around silent accomplishes nothing. I emailed GM’s product development team numerous times back in the early 2010’s after they axed the Pontiac G8. A few years later we got the Chevy SS, one of the most amazing cars this country has ever gotten under 40k, if not the best.

People are so afraid to say anything nowadays. Literally all Subaru has to do is put the 2.4 turbo in this and it would be 100x better. I like my WRX but like Justy I am getting older and am looking for something with more room, and more comfort, that isn’t a complete bore to own/drive. Aside from the WRX (which has been neutered and watered down and now priced to the point of irrelevancy) and BRZ, there isn’t a single product Subaru makes that is worth buying IMO.

It’s cool if you like going 65 mph in the fast lane but the fact is Subaru hasn’t done a single innovative thing with their products since the Forester XT. They’re trying to be like Toyota now, changing designs every few years to appease the “oooohh, shiny new object!” crowd, but the underpinnings are all the same. I’ve never seen a more boring/uninspiring portfolio of cars in my life.

Yes, that would be cool. And they would sell about 500. But…the public likes the Forester and the formula that they use. It’s a big seller. That’s the public’s fault for having bad taste. Don’t get mad at Subaru for filling a need.

Now, a 2025 Legacy Spec.B 6MT would be amazing.

I’m not mad at Subaru for filling a need, I’m mad that they took away a turbo engine option that was available just a few short years ago, forcing everyone into a n/a 180hp torque less motor. Hopefully with the hybrid offering things will improve.

Agreed. It wouldn't be denying the lame public their gutless turds, it would be bringing back an option for the rest of us. Doesn't matter - ship sailed long ago. Subaru builds appliances now. ****ty, unreliable appliances.

Mine has been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Probably because it doesn’t have the CVT.

I am not surprised to see the Forester being so successful. It is a fantastic car.

Not sure about successful. They started popping up on dealer lots in late spring and they are already heavily discounted now (about $5000 off of MSRP in some markets).

That's almost every car that used to be $40k+ out there.

One of many examples: BMW X3 started at $41,950 in 2020. $50,675 this year. 18%.
