While Looking at the Subaru of New England TR VIN's, when I was looking at the overall WRX VIN, I noticed quite a few of the base model WRX had low VIN. I dug a little further and looked at those. Half the of the 38 Base models in New England have been sitting for 6+ with some in the 10-11 month range. Maybe that is a factor on why the base model has been discontinued.

I stopped updating in January, too much other **** going on in my life right now.

That might be a stretch, but who knows? I just inquired about a WRB base near me. There is a 0% financing special.. that + mark down to 25k + a fair deal on my trade would be hard to pass on. I do miss my WRX..

it was a different scenario, but I was able to get a 2008 WRX Sti for under 30k with 0%.

when cars do the lot rot thing for close to a year, there's not a lot they won't do. taking a loss to get rid of it becomes a thing.

The hatch STI 0% fire sale was an interesting time.

A bunch of us took advantage. When I bought mine and was working with 2 local dealers. One straight up refused and claimed it wasn’t a thing. Guy was a jerk too. The 2nd one, gave me the stink eye, but then called corporate in NJ. They then called me back and said it was a go. They had a look of disbelief, both the sales mgr. and the finance puke, when I was signing the 0% paperwork. Way under invoice as well. That night was flood rain conditions for the drive home, which was both entertaining and enlightening, feeling the diffs kick power around to keep that thing in a straight line. The next day I pulled up at dealer #1 to meet the service department, which was much closer to the crib, and they had Cobb in the building prior. Same sales clown sees me and says “Oh I see you’re back to buy that STi”. I said no, my car is parked out front. I’m here to meet my service department. He was the sales mgr and everyone that worked for him in that office heard that conversation. They all stood up, saw my car, and were laughing at him. He was universally hated. I was there to get the verbal on mods at Cobb and did. Fun times indeed.

Hell, I miss 2014/2015. We juggled cars for a few years around that time and it seemed like everything was 0%

Today: 0% for 48 on WRX, 0.9% for 49-72. Wow. Except.. they won't even come down to invoice! On a base!

Doesn't matter, there was no way I was buying one. I only wanted it for its surprisingly satisfying stick shift.

So I will forget all about it in a few weeks when I un-mothball the 86

I mean... I just picked up my TR for $37,800 out the door minus taxes. It had the more popular packages and the STI short throw pack. But I also kind of blame dealers. I had one near me that sat on the lot for almost a full year. I tried to get the same deal that I listed above (This dealer said no. Other dealer said YES PLS!) but they absolutely would not budge at all on pricing. They cut like $2500 but come on... almost a year on the lot... That WRX TR is STILL sitting on the lot. So yeah. Drove a state away and picked up my current car that sat on the lot for 8 days before I swooped in.

Did you have to fight them down to that price?

I poked around my 200 mi radius and I'm not finding gobs of 2024s. I'm seeing lots of premiums marked down $3000 ish, but that's the best I've seen

All the advertised discounted prices for WRXs and BRZs around here have disappeared. Back to full MSRP listings.

guys off his rocker again. Audi S3 , S4, RS3, M3, even a regular C class with the amg handling wheel tire suspension package is faster. Civic type R and GR Corolla we’ll leave out since they’re technically hatches. Nearly every “sport” sedan is faster and a much better deal than that Ts BS car. Four years later you still haven’t bought a VB.

Yeah if Subaru Botches the 2026 WRX refresh, im going to go pick up an S3 or 2026 Celica. No point in waiting and wishing if Subaru just wants to be the new "Mr. Electric."

I looked a march WRX sales earlier but didn't have time to respond. They were down 16%, but one thing I notice was Autotrader inventory dropped from about 1000 to 400. Subaru of NewEngland showed that 2024 inventory was down to 40 and 2025 inventory was only 20 units with with 20 showing as in transport. I wonder if Subaru if prioritize other models getting through customs. I read that many of the WRX deals were no longer as good at least going by hearsay on social media.

I suspect that April is going to be a bad month for sales because it does not appear that Subaru has much WRX inventory. In New England, they show 13 2024 and 23 2025 on lots. Nationally only 417 2024 and 2025 (with 133 of those being 2024.). It is kind of hard to sell 1500+ WRX per month when it doesn't appear that they even have that many in inventory.

Those cars are all more expensive though the tS is really getting up there in pricing. You can still get a Limited or Premium WRX for significantly less than the tS. When I bought my TR, I didn't think twice about the $2600 price difference between the Limited and TR. It is now $5600 between the Limited and tS, I am pretty sure I would have not pulled the trigger for a tS. I priced out a S3 when I bought my TR last year. It was ~12K OTD higher. I am a cash buyer and the difference was too great for me, maybe I could have found or negotiated a better deal for the S3 but even at $10k it was more than I want to pull from my savings/stocks.

Don't get your hopes up too high, the 2025 has a Black grill, Red WRX badges and some different interior accent changes depending on the model. 2025 maybe have been the refresh.

Quantity is down due to model year changeover.

This isn't what I want to hear but I appreciate you communicating it clearly and consistently.

Do you think Subaru will provide ample notification of its demise or could it be another too-late-to-do-anything messaging like we saw with the STI?
