Default What does the inside of an oem WRX muffler look like?

I didnt know where else to put this, so it's here.
I was bored and wondered what the stock exhaust looked like on the inside.
With much fanfare:

I'd like to see that or a STi axle back.... anyone think its possible to cut one open and make it a straight flowing design, and re-weld?

My plan was to gut this muffler and make a straight through exhaust.
I was able to hack out all the inside pipes. It left just a pipe in and the tailpipes out.
My welding skill let me down, and my flux core "mig" only burnt nice holes in the case.

Yeah, exactly. If I didn't already have an exhaust I would be ordering mine right now. Curious to see how much an STi exhaust differs...

Wow, that's great! Thanks for doing that! But now what? Is it a realistic mod to gut the stock muffler? Those are pretty clean cuts - angle grinder?

I was going to take my axle back off tomorrow jsut to see how things sound. I was considering having a straight pipe installed in place of the axle back. Now you've got me thinking... Thank cfvrtuner!
