Bumping this from the dead.

I see a post over on romraider from march of this year that is saying flashing is working for him still on a vag-com:

He does not specify if it is an 02-03 or later however. I'm interested to hear if anyone has used the VAG-COM for an 02-03 in the past 7 Years since this thread was created or if I need to pony up and get a tactrix.

It's been awhile, but never got the vag-com cable to work with an 02. i even did the resistor mod to it. I got a tactrix cable and never looked back.

Bought a Tactrix cable as well. I might have continued to play with this on the WRX but having just done a Harness merge the last thing I need is to be chasing down problems with the cable AND not knowing if the merge is at fault.

Just wanted to chime in to say I was using ecuflash 1.28 as I couldn’t get 1.29 to work and I was flashing a 2004 fxt. (I wrote the post on rom raider that you linked to about flashing with vagcom btw)
