20 year NASIOC/I-CLUB anniversary

I haven't really been active on here in awhile but was checking out a few things today and noticed that my 20 year anniversary of being on this board was on the 21st! It all started with I-Club and Alex/Imprezer before it morphed to NASIOC.

Thanks to all of the members here (and no longer here/banned) who've helped create a truly fantastic community. I feel that the moto-iq of the enthusiasts here are some of the highest of any forum.

My home on these forums has always been the Suspension forum. It became my passion beginning with my MY2000 2.5RS. Since power wasn't worth investing in too much other than the ubiquitous GanzFlo (thanks Larry!) and the Strömung dual-tip exhaust, I concentrated on suspension mods. I learned so much from Mike Shields and his SPD Tuning website and from Jim Gurieff, formerly of Whiteline. All the things I experimented with I shared generously and avidly documented the important stuff I learned in installing hundreds suspensions on hundreds of cars over the years.

Happy 20th Anniversary! I miss the old times where forums are the main thing. I don't log in everyday like I used to but NASIOC is still one of the main sites I go to. It amazes me to see old timers still actively posting.

good question! We certainly blew up a lot of stuff! I can't really comment on the current state of the forums as I haven't been active. But it was an interesting time for Americans coming into contact with this amazing automotive platform. Most were big rally fans. It was an interesting combo of high-end, high quality mods and garage made parts. There were no cheap knock-offs at the time. For suspension it was Leda, DMS(rest in peace Jamie), STi, Cusco, Whiteline, TEIN, Bilstein, Prodrive. Since we had no turbo at the beginning our engine mods were garage/hotrod inspired. Cobb was only doing cams and highflow heads. I recall reading ColinL's install of the cams on his RS. What a pain! I even recall reading a post from Trey saying once that he would only ever support Subaru. larry Ganz was doing his air intake mod. And there were a few dubious companies making turbo kits (JC Sports anyone?). So it was a wild combo of etablished high-end JDM/EDM parts and wild west innovation. Everyone was just learning and experimenting on every aspect of the car. And then sharing it here or eventually on Scooby Mods (thanks Peaty/Kastle).

Indeed and the local meets. Most of the guys in my area have moved on to owning Porsche's, LoL. But I'm still spending money on this darn 2004.7 STi shaking my big head.
