Question for you guys... How long are you waiting to do engine mods? When the engine is broken in or when you feel that the car is sound enough to void warranty?

*note: this is a question on when you will do engine mods not a question about warranty. Lets not get into a warranty debate.
Well coming from a cobb stage 2 wrx to stock sti, honestly after 5 days having the car, I can't take the stock tune anymore. It just feels unhealthy compared to how a stage or 2 car feels. I definitely set the piston rings in the first 50 miles. I know it will run without a hitch on stage 2 and it's my daily driver, I dont beat on it too bad. I have my cbr 1000rr for that.

Can't help but check this thread every 2 days. It's only been a week since I ordered mine. This might just drive me insane!

I even made a paper chain to hang at work to represent the weeks. Every Friday I'll cut one off. Not sure if its going to help, or just make it worse. I'll post a pic of it at some point.

Waiting for May.

So did you get 30% or 35% and with slight stock difference it is 28%?

Idk but I asked what percent films he could do. He said either 15 or 28 so I went with 28. Dont know if it was really 30 or 35. Maybe it was.

I ordered mine yesterday with dealer sales rep over the phone. He explained the allocation issue and the end of the month dilemma so I went and ordered it. I asked for the VON today but he hasn't returned my email as of now. Could he have been just pulling my chain to meet his quota or spread it to the next month? Should I continue to ask to ensure he did actually order it and get the VON from him?

In a nutshell:

Wait time depends on a few things:
1) NAV package. Seems to take 3-4 weeks longer on average.
2) dealer size. Usually higher volume dealers get cars around 3 months (California, tri state, maic, etc). Smaller dealers with lower turn over tend to be 4-5 months. The cars they receive is called allocation which they get a new batch every month or so.
3) ordering VS on the lot VS pipeline. Sometimes people get lucky and find a lot car, other times they will get a car already on its way, otherwise you have to wait for your car to be made.

Right now orders are estimated to come in Late May, and some people have even been gettin June estimates (probably closer to reality).

Usually you'll get a VON, and then a month before arrival you'll get a VIN and a 1st ETA. then a few weeks before you'll get a revised ETA when the actual day might be. People have been using marinetraffic.com to track boats and ports that Subaru uses to "guess" where their car is.

Other than that. Sit back, relax, and try not to pull your hair out

Thanks for that great update. Very helpful! How do I get a VON? is that something the dealer will send to me, or do I need to inquire about that?

I hope its not the qorst 3-5 months of my life! I got engaged last week, so I can't let my fiance see that I am freaking out.

I am in the Philadelphia area, so hopefully I am on the lower end of that scale.

Thanks!

I called SOA again this week and the guy I talked to said my car had a "location code" but that he didn't know what the code meant. I asked if that meant it was still in Japan or what, he replied that "it could mean it's shipped on the way here." He then told me, same as the last call I made, that they get information from the dealer, which has it first.

Seems like a number of you guys have gotten a lot better info from your calls to SOA. Are you just calling the 1-800-SUBARU3 number?

9 weeks tomorrow.

Best luck I had was emailing SOA. I guess because they aren't trying to get through a stack of calls and can spend a little more time tracking down your car. It took her about 3 days to get back to me but when she did her info was spot on. She told me on a Thursday I should see the car Tuesday. Then the dealer calls the same day saying its coming tomorrow, then it's not here probably Monday, finally showed up on Tuesday. Sounds like the rep i got actually talked to the distributor instead of just looking at what was in the system.

What's your location code?

Ordered 1/24. I'll be happy if I get it before June. STi limited, no options.

He didn't offer up the code and unfortunately I didn't ask.

Email through the form of the Contact Us page or you found an address someplace?

Dealer should have given you a VON. My dealer ordered the car right in front of me and printed out my order papers, so I got my VON immediately. Some people get them a few days later. You should be able to call the dealer or SOA and they can give it to you.

It doesn't really do you much good except for proving that there's an order in your name. You can't really get any solid information until you get a VIN anyway.

give it up guys, I have a VIN, new what ship my car was on, knew when it was going to hit baltimore, all but watched it get unloaded, saw the ship sail on, and 2.5wks later I still don't have my car, SOA has no idea where it is, there is no ship rail or ship truck date and as far as I can tell it hasn't even left the goddamn port.

All the information in the world doesn't help ****.
Go roll a blunt, funnel a keg, squat 405 for reps, whatever keeps you entertained but don't think the pursuit of facts about your car will help anything.

Thanks. Just called SOA and they told me basically the same thing. I would like to get my hands on that VON so I know I have a actual order in place. SOA told me 12-16 weeks. I am sick of driving my Acura! I have to treat it like a savings account until May.

Emailed the dealer asking if the eta was still 2/13 and this is what he replied:

"We're still on target for 2/13. Status has been updated to "Shipped Rail". That means it's now on a train on its way to us.

Getting more and more anxious!

My ETA is 2/5, and I have no ship rail / ship truck date in SubaruNet.

maybe I'm querying the wrong table, but I don't think so

my dealer is f'ing useless i've fed them more information then they have fed me bull****.

I swear they have been useless i've done most of my interaction with subaru of america rep John Mergen and their head of fleet when I got really pissed off.
Dealership is a middle man at best to me at this point and they got on my last nerve months ago.

Got my tints on today. Love it. 18% rear, 35% front is perfect.

I'll give her a bath and get some more pics up.
