Question What does the purge control solenoid do?

As the topic ask, what is the purpose of this solenoid?. Reason why I am asking is I broke the outlet that one of the tubes attaches to, the one going to the manfold vac line. I am just wondering what effect will it have if I just leave it like that. If anyone knows I appreciate the knowledge.

I did the same thing and wound up buying a new one from Sugar for about $100 or so. It purges the charcoal canister I think; I had a vacuum leak until I replaced the solenoid (I couldn't get glue to work) but I'm not sure the overall affect on driveability, as I had other issues at the time. Since it's fuel system related I would err on the side of caution and replace it. Just my 2c.

What a pain in the arse. I think I will just take it out and try one more time to properly glue the thing. Anyone else have an idea on its function.

If you're intent on fixing it, I would rough up the surface a bit and repair with epoxy. I have one type that comes in stick form, you just slice off a piece and knead it to mix in the catalyst. That stuff is incredibly strong, cures in about 5 minutes, and has a thick enough consistency to hold the parts in place while setting up.

You installed a TEC-II and a intercooled SC and you can't get that little valve off ? IIRC, there is just one bolt holding it on under the firewall side of the intake manifold. Go Fish !

The fuel vapors from the fuel tank collect in the charcoal canister. At cruising speed, with a low load on the motor, the purge valve will open and the motor will suck the vapors from the canister. If you leave the line off long enough the ECU might see a leak in the purge system, and you might get a check engine light on. Make sure you plug the end going to the intake manifold or you'll have a pretty good vaccum leak.
