![]() Id be curious to try out the WRX CVT version. Just to compare the CVT to all others Ive tried. Honda Accord has been the only one with a CVT that I dont hate.
I would still pick the ZF6 or ZF8 over any CVT though. |

Drove a Civic with the CVT a few years back over seas. Worked well for what it was. I agree with the ZF. Such a better answer to the mpg question. Peace, Greg |

The people who own or previously owned Subaru products are unhappy with the car, and the guy who drives a GLI and has never given Subaru a dime of his money loves it. |

![]() I had an 02 bugeye, 05 STi, 08 outback. It really pisses me off Subaru offers nothing I would buy anymore.
I bought all 3 brand new. |

In my mind, the target demographic for a CVT WRX is probably younger white collar professionals who have a decent amount of disposable income for the first time in their lives. They want a car that feels fast and that's more exciting than a Civic or other comparable econobox, but they don't know how to drive stick or maybe don't want to deal with the "hassle" of driving stick all the time. They want something that they can also use as a family hauler while also having some fun. To someone like that, a CVT WRX is a solid option. To Subaru nuts like us, some might say it's sacrilege because Subaru has already been slowly moving away from the brand that it was in the mid 2000s and now it's an even bigger offense that they save all the desirable bits for a trim that only comes with a CVT and costs $10K more than it should. The reality is that "real enthusiasts" (for lack of a better term) represent just a small drop in the ocean now. I'd be curious to see stats about how many people know how to drive a manual, separated by age groups. We already know that the number is small but in today's world of emerging EVs and technology being at the forefront of everything that we interact with, I can't imagine that too many kids who were born in the last decade or so are going to grow up to be "car enthusiasts" in the same way that most of us on here are car enthusiasts. |

An IS300 AWD has a LOWER MSRP, an IS350 AWD is about the same MSRP; Audi, Merc & BMW all offer something around the same MSRP that offer the same utility (I mean, as much utility as you can get out of a compact sedan) while being significantly nicer places to be. Mazda 3 2.5T AWD is another competitor in the AWD Auto I4T market, but it's significantly cheaper than a WRX GT while being a better place to be. |

![]() Cobbs Accessport for the 22' Wrx dropped today. Claiming 40whp just with a stage 1 tune. The VB has a single scroll, not a double like the VA. Thats a significant bump for just a stage 1 tune. Im wondering what Longevity will look like.

![]() Well if you ask Subaru, they'd say BAD because they don't dare hit that gearbox with any more than 258 lb-ft. But if you ask me I'd guess just fine, since you basically never hear about those gearboxes breaking after all these years of AP action. Engine will prob be fine too.
I run a stage 1 91 OTS map for drivability improvements only, keep it topped up with the best 93 I can find. If the VB had anywhere near the horrific rev-hang, throttle response and wonky AFR like the early VA's had I'd 100% do an AP again, in-warranty. It doesn't sound like VB is too bad in that department though. Would wait until you felt bored with it and do it to freshen things up. |

![]() Silver Cobb WRX looks great. I would buy that. SBR is so blind when it comes to design. I still don't know who the head designer is, and I bet it's design-by-committee.
