It's a decent bump, but kind of sad compared to the gains a CTR or Elantra N get from an OTS tune, especially when you throw in the Subaru has a distinct displacement advantage.

Great numbers for the CVT too:

Hopefully they will offer the GT trim with a manual soon.

i have a VB and am pretty tempted to order this today. i had a 15 wrx on flex and it was a blast. mainly just waiting on seeing some custom e30 t00ns.

looks like tq doesnt dip too badly at 6k rpm. wonder if cobb can increase the redline to 7k in future updates?

i think it might have to do with the factory ctr t00n being pretty conservative and subaru's factory t00n being pretty aggressive. based on some of the dynos, the 22 wrx t00n will knock quite a bit with 91. i'm interested to test the factory t00n with 93 and see if it still knocks.

How is it sad ? COBB is very mild and I had no idea they offered OTS tunes for the CTR and Elantra N or are you comparing completely different tuners using different DYNO setups ? Also, FWD vs full time AWD on the DYNO. These gains are fantastic for an EPA compliant mild OTS tune.

Hondata has many OTS t00ns for the CTR. They’re pretty good for an OTS. I used to have one.

I'll most likely buy phatron's e30 OTS t00n once that's available.

That silver looks weird all painted. It looks like when a car has been in an accident and the crappy bodyshop paints all the bits that are not supposed to be painted. And it sticks out. Not sure I like that.

Would you have bought a Subaru in the 80s, 90s?

2008 OBXT had an optional manual. I drove one from NYC to Alaska a few years ago during a nationwide snow storm. Fun times!

Cladding sticking out everywhere as opposed to real fender flares and rear quarter panel integration=Zero harmony to the design of this car. I dislike it so much I started looking for one. I am going to pull the trigger real soon.

Subaru just went stale for my tastes after 08. Design confusion, etc. They became stagnant on performance as well. Willfully I feel and that’s the frustration. Oh well. They decided to move away from that niche and onto mainstream endeavors.

I was all about jeep cj’s and grand nationals in the late 80s 90s. But I was just a southern teenager. I didn’t even consider a Subaru until 2002 when I went to an Audi dealership to look at an s4 and they had a used wrx bugeye that I drove. I was hooked. I then went to the Subaru dealer and they had a silver 5spd. I bought it. I would’ve bought the used one from the Audi dealer but it was black.

The square flairs are still kind of incongruous but it looks a lot better painted. A new WRX with some body colored flex paint could be an option if I need a new car.

I put a Cobb stage 2 on my wagon about three months after I bought it. I don't know what would happen if I tried to take it off at this point.

When I had my '05 WRX, my father picked up his first ever Subaru, a white/granite '05 Outback 2.5XT 5MT. That thing was awesome. Such a sleeper. Should have been the ultimate HIN/SEMA platform.

The only downside was the clutch pedal engaged about an inch off the ground, vs the WRX which catches higher. Always felt awkward to drive.

So, the Cobb version is 100x better than stock, but I agree it's the cladding being painted vs sheet metal.

did cobb increase the redline? looks like stock redline is 6100. 200 more doesn't seem much of an increase.

Redline on the Stage 1 I guess is only limited to 6300. And that's using stock air intake. I think it would have to be increased if you were venturing into Stage 2. Or maybe not? Couple of guys in my IG group confirmed 14.5-15.5 avg boost on normal driving, as well as reaching 60mph in second gear. I also told them OTS tunes can suck it, and go get a freakin Protune lol.

we all know the stage x crap is all non-sense and just a way for cobb to make easy money. intakes/catback are almost never a bottleneck for these cars.

the real gains are from e85. if sticking with pump gas, then it'll be replacing the stock 'j-pipe', but i doubt there will be many options with the new epa rules.

Biggest selling point right now for these cars is the relative accessibility compared to its “rivals” in the current market.

MSRP plus maybe 2-3 month wait >> the price gauging and long wait times for the Type R and GR rolla.

If Subaru improves the interior + big break package, design upgrades they would be an even bigger appeal.

i would go a step further and say the VB WRX is the best tooning platform. if you want the best out of box car, then type r or gr corolla.

you're only going to get more wheel spin with the fwd type r. not to mention paying above sticker for a used fk8 or new fl5. only to get by a 30k e85 wrx off the line.

gr corolla will be impossible to get one at sticker as well. i'm not sure if there will be tooning solutions for this platform given how low volume the car will be. piggyback stuff don't count. i think they're a dirty way to toon.
