Post Q's about Superchargers

What do you guys think the parasitic loss is on a Supercharger, as compared to a Turbo? Can't be all that much, actually, or else no one would get or make a Supercharger...Also, to those of you who have Superchargers, when they are running properly how would you compare them to the Turbo's that you've ridden in (assuming that you've ridden in a turbo)...And yes, I did a search I got tons of info from my searches, too...But these two questions are still basically unanswered...I don't want a fight in here, and I'm not looking for any info on Turbos. I just want insights on working Superchargers, especially from those people that have driven in them...Thanks

I have one of the few working S/C setups. The other guys are lurking around here somewhere! If their cars run like mine, you will find that the S/C adds even more torque to an already torquey 2.5 engine. As far as mine goes , I don't see much point in letting it rev past 5500 rpm or so. If you want to drag race or go to short auto-crosses, maybe the S/C is for you. If you want to to hot laps on a road course or do some high speed long distance driving, maybe the turbocharger s the way to go. It's all a matter of preferences, I'm sure both ways of forced induction will run you close to the same amount. The only limiting factor to either way's performance is all in your checkbook! Have fun! Brian

Thanks for the good info! I'm not much for driving at 100+ mph (although it IS fun...) but tracks are hard to get to with me (hard to find time), and I really enjoy torque I like the downlow better than the up high, actually...I don't want to drag, really, but I want power in the low more than the top...That and I think I like the word 'Supercharger' better than 'Turbocharger' ...I really like jumping off the line, and I want that headsnapping action
