Looks awesome, clean shot. I think that DOF is perfect! I have that same lens I need to use it more.

This thread single handedly inspired me to get back into shooting with my Canon.
Just picked up a nifty fifty to mess around with! Kind of excited to get back into this.

Looks good but I think if you wait until the sun gets closer to the horizon you'd be happier with the quality of light My attention is brought right to the front drivers fender/bumper where the sun is coming from. The highlight. The trick is get the sun low and it makes a huge soft box in the sky.

How do you live that 85mm. They are great for portraits especially on a DX body.

Light painting must be so easy on non-black cars...

That's a good one. I like how you got the tail trails from moving cars behind the car.

Because better glass means everything. I think people burn out with this hobby because they see quality photos and think they can reproduce the same image because they have a dslr. Even if you're shooting for pure fun, atleast get a 50mm. Kit lens' should be abolished.

I should've said it differently. A lot of people recommend PRO level glass obvious reasons but most people don't NEED it. I've seen amazing pictures taken with kit lenses but they aren't ideal for a lot of situations. Do I want all of Canon"s L lenses? Yep. Do I need them at my level. Nope

IMO, if you are going to make the jump and invest in a DSLR, you should invest in quality glass. Because bodies are constantly losing value, but good glass holds its value for years. Too many people invest in the body and then skimp on glass.

I assume you bought them used as I do, which is the right way to do it. But if you buy new, bodies take a huge hit. Look at the 1DS which was around $8k new, but can be had for $3k now. Meanwhile a 85mm 1.2 is $1800 new, but still sell for $1,300-1500 used.

Go to B&H, $1,799 brand new

There are a few on eBay going for $1,300-1500 right now. But we both agree that they hold there value incredibly well.

And I love mine too, mmmm cake.

Went for a darker feel on this one. Shot with Canon T2i, 85mm f/1.8

ISO 200 / f/2.8 / 1/125s

I like the shot, but I feel like in most of your shots for some reason the car always seems to be two different colors. Mostly because of the lighting, of course. Idk how else to describe it, I feel like the car would "pop" a lot more if the whole car had the same color and depth as the left side (in the picture above).
