I bought the tires off craiglist, they came with rims, but the rims would not fit the subaru so I bought the cheap(isn) MSW rims (not from but are the same as the lowest price alloy sold by tire warehouse) and sprayed them with black plastidip.

Tires are Nordman 2, a Chinese made Nokian-ish tire (i.e. some Chinese company bought the mold from Nokian and continued making them).

Loud but have amazing grip in the snow.

On a side note, even with the taller sidewall I have no issues with the handling of the car, and might run this rim with a tire like the Nokian WRG2 year round, and sell the original wheels, maybe.

I'll take one after work, and yes they do help with potholes.

Even though not rated. About 2 years/30k miles or four winters (if used only in the winters) - whichever comes first.

don't know, but by comparison the snow tires have twice the tread depth as my OEM tires that have under 8,500 miles on them.

2-3 winters in my case, I guess that is what I was expecting.

By the way, here in Quebec-Canada, winter Tire are required from December 15 to March 15. I bought a set of Nokian Hakkapellitta 7 205-55-16 for about $1000 canadian. I know it's expensive but it is an incredible tire... I drive a lot on country roads in northern Canada, where conditions are extreme and where the temperature is very cold (up to -40) ... I can easily drive 120-130 km/h in any snowstorm.

Sorry for my bad english
There's nothing wrong with your English. You're doing better than many Americans.

snow tires wouldn't have helped me this morning. there was maybe 2" of snow on the ground, but visibility was to my hood and occasionally just to my windshield

I'm completely unamused with how aggressive the traction control is even when it's supposidly turned off.

I have to say I am so impressed with my 2013 5dr in the snow storm a few weeks ago. I was out playing in it as soon as the travel ban was lifted (Mass) and I could not get this thing stuck if I tried. I have the OEM tires on and this thing just stuck to the road and plowed through it. Only issue was the height...Front bumper acted like a plow pushing through the snow but that was ok. I cant even imagine driving this think with some good snow tires. Cheers!

was out driving through 4-6" of snow yesterday and today with the stock Yokos, overall did a great job even with 15.5k on the tires now.

Find yourself another set of rims and throw some winter tires on it. Then you will be blown away with how it gets through the snow.

Unbelievable! Fantastic! Amazing!

Anyone know if the factory snowflakes I believe they were called actually came in yellow? I have seen a few cars with them and I'm not sure if they are painted or factory. I think those are what I want for snow tires.

I think they are stock legacy wheels on a previous generation. Im not sure why they have that name other then just the amount spokes? It doesnt really look like a snowflake.

The traction control doesn't do anything when it's turned off. I don't know what problem you were having cause you made a very vague statement, but you were likely experiencing the VDC, which CANNOT be turned off.
