The 16g is going to be a better turbo than either of those. It will provide a broader powerband (aka, won't fall on it's face at redline) and flows a bit more than the any vf turbo. The 16g is rated at 35lbs/min ( 350chp). Other variations of the 16g (xt, xtr) are going to flow more (38-41lbs/min) and provide better aerodynamics/ and either journal bearing or ball bearing chra's. The ball bearing chra is going to provide better spool and better transient response. Call/check out Blouch. They have great turbos and are very knowledgable. Lol, I whole heartedly agree with you in the fact that there is more than one dyno that will show inflated numbers. Your not making that power, the turbo can't flow that much, and your trap speeds indicate the same. Physics is still a law my friend.

Just like the shop that said his vf52 tune broke 400whp (nope) and the kind in FL that broke 400whp with a 16g (on pump gas!!). There has been a growing trend on here of inflated numbers. Why? Because some shops jack their correction factor up, then idiot kids take the numbers as gospel and expect every dyno to show that high of numbers. Which makes other shops jack their cf up in order to compete. Trap speed is the only way to compare actual power numbers. Unless you can't shift, it basically takes the driver out of the equation as well (no launch worries, reaction time, etc). It's not perfect, but its better than straight dyno numbers. The other way to compare is to ho stock run to modified run and see the difference. Case in point, on the dyno dynamics I was on no one broke 300whp on E85. Stock STIs put down about 200whp, which is a 100whp over stock with all the goodies. That has been backed up by numerous other dynos. Your claiming a 150+whp gain on a vf39. That is complete and utter bs. As for the 2.0 to 2.5 comparison, peak power is going to be almost exactly the same. Prolly within 10whp of each other. Now, the tq numbers are going to be quite different (since tq is basically spool) and the dyno graph is going to move to the right on the 2.0, but peak power will be extremely close. |
