Default Top Scoob 028, Stone Cone Killers (VOTE NOW in the Final Round !!)

Top Scoob is looking for the ultimate Autocross Subaru! If you're the steely eyed cone bashing hardcore weekend warrior that has conquered terminal understeer and can feel the difference between a half pound of air in one corner this round is for you and your Scoob. VIDEOS ARE A MUST for this round as well as results from a sanctioned AutoX event in the past year. This round is open to any and all Subarus so if you think your car has what it takes, read the rules and enter below. It's easy, you don't even have to shag cones!

Thanks to Turn in Concepts who're providing the winner with a gift certificate worth $100 and a Super Custom dash plaque !!

Quote:
It's easy to enter your car, all you need is a Subaru, a camera, a place to host pictures, a user account here on NASIOC.com, and the ability to type a sentence or two***8230;

The Rules are as follows...
  • Please limit your entry post to FIVE pictures of your car, whatever you feel best shows off your hard work. Once the voting begins you are free to add more pictures with new post. Feel free to post away for as long as you remain in the running.
  • A written description of your ride, the more detailed the better. We're talking about more than just a mod list, we want you to share the story behind your Scoob. Tell us why and how you bought it, what inspires you to modify it, and what all you've done to it and why. Most important is to tell us what you do with your car...race, show, cruise, polish with a diaper, whatever.
Think of it as your own magazine feature, the better you sell your car to the masses the better the chances of your Subaru becoming a Top Scoob.

  • You're more then welcome to start a campaign thread in your Regional Forum however the General, Off Topic, and Gallery forums are off limits to threads requesting votes. If you already have a thread about your car in the Gallery feel free to bump away. If you don't have a build thread consider starting one!
  • TRASH TALKING is not welcome in this contest. If you need to tear down another competitor to improve your own or a friend's chances please remember this is only a contest intended to be fun for all Subaru enthusiasts.
How it works
  • This is a contest, open to all Nasioc members that own a Subaru.
  • You must be the current owner of the car, no third party entries allowed. If you have a question about your car's eligibility please just ask.
  • When it's time to enter you can do by responding to Top Scoob thread in either Nasioc's Official News, Articles, and Polls Forum, the Member's Car Gallery or check for one of the Top Scoob LOCALS ONLY rounds in NASIOC's regional or international forums. Any themes or restrictions on entries will be clearly described before the contest begins. For example: GC Only, or Wagons Only, or STi, ect. ect. there's a new theme every time.
  • Please only one entry per person.
Voting and Eliminations
  • There are three rounds of voting, Round One = 8 days, Round Two = 8 days, Final Round = 10 days
  • After the First Round only the Top Ten cars move on.
  • After the Second Round only the Top Three move on.
  • The Top Three cars will go head to head to head in a final poll to select who has the next Top Scoob.
  • Votes are automatically reset to zero at the start of each round.
  • In case of a tied vote for the last transfer spot in the first two rounds, the entrants involved will compete in a 24-hour Run Off vote.
If there is a tied vote for first place in the final round, a 72-hour Run Off vote will decide the winner.

Okay, okay, I'll try this again from the autocross side.

My name's Karen, and while I do tend to like driving my torque-monster Camaros (yes, I own two of them), I compete in National level SCCA autocross with my E Street Prepared 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX.

I bought the car almost 4 years ago after having driving Justin Rest's 2006 in DSL during the 2007 season and winning a National Championship. After looking at Mazdaspeed 3s, and considering doing something with my beloved '96 Z28 1LE, I found this car languishing at an Essex area dealership, unloved due to its massive stereo system and flamboyant paint job.

The stereo system was pretty much immediately removed, but the paint job remains, contributing to the nickname "phoenix." Justin and I prepped it for DS, and after interviewing Gabe Dunn via two Capitals playoff games, I was competing Nationally in my own car again. We did the DC ProSolo, the Atlanta DoubleCross and the Wendover ProSolo that year, and Gabe made his first (and so far only) trip to Nationals with my car. He didn't fair so well, but James Feinberg won the DS ProSolo Championship with my car (and boy, the stories that came of that), and I won the L1 ProSolo Championship. I finished second in the Ladies Challenge (oddly enough, thanks to the rain; otherwise, I may have won after my finishes at Atlanta and DC), and second in DSL at the National Championships.

I faced a dilemma then. Subaru was no longer offering even the ProSolo contingency. It was no longer "worth it" to run the car in stock class, and as much of a pushy pig it was in stock trim, when the opportunity came up to convert it to ESP, I jumped.

I dropped the car and a copy of the Street Prepared rules off at IAG and told them what I wanted. The car was... meh in early 2009, and I quickly realized I wasn't going to be able to skimp on diffs, so I had front and rears installed just before the 2009 Nationals. I managed to win ESPL there despite issues with the front diff's fitment, and I returned in 2010 to finish just a tick out of the trophies in ESP open class.

In 2011, I found out a mere three weeks before Nationals that I could make it. This was just after returning from one of the most incredible roadtrips I've ever had -- to the Packwood ProSolo and Mt. St. Helens. My Summer of Awesome finished with me earning my first ever open class National Champions trophy in ESP open. It was merely 7th, but it meant the world to me. For the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to the upcoming autocross season, and I have a new codriver -- Heyward Wagner -- to push me.

What's been done to the car? If you're asking that, I guess you haven't seen my ongoing build thread in the Motorsports area. But, seriously, this is it, with the things being installed in the next week (literally) in red.

There are a few other things on the table, but those in red are definitely being done, followed up, of course, by a re-tune to account for the headers and such.

And then I go to the first WDCR-SCCA event of the year for a shakedown session before the Maryland ProSolo in mid-April! Yikes!

I pride myself on taking care of my cars. My '96 Z28 1LE (the infamous "Green Terror") has nearly 419K miles on it, and I am nearly at 110K on the WRX right now. Having a codriver like Heyward this season will push me with the upkeep of the car as well as with my own driving.

2012 is going to be fun.

Hi my name is Karlton (yes the Karlton fender flare Karlton haha) and I bought my STI in November 2005 with 8 miles on it, broke it in for around 500 miles, then brought it out to it's first autox. Previous to this car I drove a DSP supra, GS Mini, and a ES MR2, all on race tires. Boy did the car not want to turn.......

Originally, the car was supposed to be my daily driver and remain stock, but after it's first autox, the mod bug bit me hard and I ended up building my car for the STU class. After a few years in the class, local competition dwindled and it was time to look for a new class to run in. SM looked well populated.....

OMG was that a bad idea. SM doesn't stand for Street Modified, it stands for Serious Money! There's a whoooooole bunch of things that can be done in this class, and I have been slowly building for the class as funds allow. So far, here's what I have done. All self-wrenched, but GST does my tuning. I'd blow up my motor lol

So 2011 was a tough year, as I had planned on driving my dad's DSP supra, but we could never finish an event LOL. Sucker kept blowing head gaskets. Took my car down to Socal for the divisional so that we would qualify for Nats just in case we could get my Dad's car running again, but the motor just kept saying no. When I decided that I was gonna take my car to Nats, I decided to build the motor to rev a little higher so I could gain a few more mph knowing I was really going to need it for Lincoln. This of course took about 2 months longer than expected, so I pretty much just threw my car together at the last minute and took it to Nationals. Usually you would want to go to the big show with a well sorted car that you've been driving all year and are used to, but oh no...that's not my style lol. Motor, coilovers, and turbo were all changed. My trusty gt30r turbo took a crap right after I threw the car together and tried to tune, so I borrowed a friend's GT35r as that's all I could get on a Wednesday night haha. Finished putting it together and did a quick tune Thursday night (nothing like breaking in a motor on the dyno haha), and took off to Nationals Friday

2012, my plans are to buy a smaller turbo, possibly a quick rack, drop a few more lbs since my car is currently about 3085lbs, and simply drive the car and get used to it again.

Oops

And some videos:

This was with the gt30 and stock motor

This was with the gt35r and built motor. Not me driving.....my legs are not that nice ROFL

First event of the year. Need to set my rear diff back to 100% lock lol

it's an autocross only round so there's a chance an extremely stock car might win

Not sure how you came up with that since you've never been to one... I've never seen you at an autocross event in the area. I've been to every event involving SCCA, AAS, & Lotus club in norcal. Also been to socal events and practice events... never seen you... shrug.

The pics/vid you posted is you in a drift event doing donuts and attempt power slide at GA. You can call me a hater but you ain't an autocrosser (which what this contest is for).

I don't live in Norcal. I haven't lived there since my very first Subaru 6 years ago. Which I ran some events in Albany in my Porsche 914 back then btw. I think my profile still says Inglewood if you noticed (which is in Socal).

Also the video I posted was from a Drift/Grip AutoX event. There was sessions split up depending on what you were going for. I messed around on the skidpad and also got down with some sliding/gymkhana stuff when I wasn't running grip. I also staffed that event during the times I wasn't on track. So yeah I was there. I actually made every one of those events that season except one I believe. It was in Norcal too.

Also I don't think you realize how many looks and changes my car has gone through over the years. You would be a real freakin stalker if you always knew how my car looked and every event I was at.

Back in 2009, when I had first set my WRX up for ESP, I still drove it like a DS car. Even with a hamfist style of driving, I managed to take FTD on this day of a two-day event. We finished early, so we also got to do fun runs... this is with Martin (Matycross in this poll) in the passenger seat.

2010 SCCA Nationals. Clutch went out right after competition, and I had to baby it home. Fourth and fifth were pretty useless.

Hoosier A6s on the street in sub-freezing temperatures? Why not!? Actually, I was getting ready to drive it down to DC for the Washington Auto Show. And yeah, it was a little dicey in that cold of weather.

Toledo ProSolo, at the lights. And yeah, the tape "fell" off the magnetic on the back later on.

I cheated with my 35 accounts...

I only posted about it for a few friends to vote. I didn't make any special threads or anything. It's only 30+ votes. I would expect anyone that entered a competition based on votes to tell their friends or a least post on Facebook about it haha.. it's a 500k+ member board so I think anyone can come up with a few votes here and there.

I wish Hershey entered earlier, but I think he is going to have a comeback really fast. That car is just blowing my mind!
