Default who wants to install 3 gauges for me? will give you some $$

car: 2006 forester XT

gauges: boost, EGT, oil temp. egt will need the exhaust mani drilled and tapped. not sure about oil temp. boost is easy.

anybody who has experience wanna do this for me? i will pay you cash moneyz. lowest bid by someone who seems competent wins. i can go to you most likely, but local long island is preferred. NYC not out of the question. you can just post what you'd want or PM me it really doesn't matter. all 3 are going into a center pod which i've already installed with good old velcro.

invest in the oil filter adapter. add an oil pressure gauge. if you dont have one already.

i dont have any space left for another gauge unless i add another pod, but i dont want my car to look like a ricer's fighter jet. someone on the forester forums told me theres a galley plug below the tmic that doesn't require an adapter, it's supposed to just screw in.

and that is a bitch to get to. imo. wasnt exactly easy as changing my oil filter.
oil pressure > oil temp .. but having both is good.

He's in Troy (10 min outside Albany), but I know Scott will be moving soon, so his offer for free help in this area will be gone. It's a shame, because it's a pretty nice setup there (I've done work there a few times).

Surprised this hasn't been closed yet...

Seeking someone outside a supporting Nasioc vendor on Nasioc and offering to pay money usually gets the thread closed in Tri-State

Is this a sign of the changing times?

No the rules have not changed. Non-vendors are still not permitted to offer their services here for money. So he can ask, and people can recommend shops, but if anyone responds and posts "I'll do it for $$" then it's over.

you should def mention what brand gauges they are also...mech or electric. what kind of gauge pod you have...

and the galley plug ontop of the motor is good but some companies sensors/senders wont fit there OR thread in and you also need to buy the adapter plug from subaru.

Well by all means shop around, but don't expect a shop to do it for the same price as a guy working in his driveway. OTOH you get what you pay for, and in the long run you are better off having one of our vendor shops do the work if you can't do it yourself. It will be done right the first time and warrantied, and that is worth the extra $.
I've seen (and fixed) plenty of botched electrical work, it's not pretty.

the gauges are "swoosh" gauges. i've been told they are the same as srti or prosport i forget which. they are all electrical "stepper motor" gauges. opening ceremony and peak recall and all that crap. they seem to be decent quality.

do they have all the senders/sensors? are they new or used?

to be honest, its not a hard install at all. the only part that may be harder to do is tapping for the egt. some people dont have the tools for it.

the other installs are pretty much just running wires.

i find it always better to do installs like this myself. you become familiar with the car, you save LOTS of money and only have your self to blame if something goes wrong. and the added satisfaction that some d-bag isnt abusing your car. i trust like one or two people in the tri-state to have my car over night

yea i dont have the tools for the egt, the rest i could probably figure out but it would take me a long time.

the gauges are brand new with all sensors and senders.

That's funny because I just so happened to save this thread from a while back where someone had their thread locked by Paisan for offering cash to members(non-vendors) in Tri-State for a service he wanted done to his car. Correct if I'm wrong but isn't the OP of this thread doing the same thing? I smell a double standard.
