I did a brand new 07 sti transmission with a APCT Carbon Driveshaft. Stock Axles. Just needs the stubs. Totalyl changed the way the car drove. Can never go back to 5speed.

Yep, unplug the old one and plug the new one in. It doesn't flash with the hazards, just the triangle lights up with parking or headlights on.

hahaha Mines a MY03 as well. What's your transcode. Mines TY856WB3JA

I'm just going to drive the car for awhile and then take the trans apart and see what's going on in there. I haven't driven this car for over 4 years

Awesome thanks so much for the input. I already rebuilt the 5-speed once and I don't want to go that route again. This time I'd rather have something that will handle more power since I plan on upgrading the turbo as well. How much was a brand new trans?

The switch from factory lights the triangle as well with the park/headlights.

$4,200 if you get it from here, but that's just the trans. there is also one that comes with a "install kit" not sure what that would contain, but all you would then have to do is buy a automatic driveshaft, DCCD controller and a new clutch(if you prefer, I was told you could reuse a 5speed clutch but why would you?)
And Jon Cooley is the man, I have bothered him with questions about pretty much EVERYTHING. lol including this swap.

When I did my swap after doing research the 06 sti transmission works out to be the cheapest swap. You can find them used with low miles for not that much $$. I got lucky and knew a guy parting his 06 sti out so I knew the trans only had 38k on it picked that up for 2800 and after fly wheel/clutch/installations ect It worked out to be around 4k after everything was said and done.

I don't know how any of you guys who have already swapped feel a bout this, but I def feel the 6speed is just not very practical for daily use. Maybe it's just me being lazy but I miss not having to shift so much from stop lights around town when I had my 5 speed. Also between the shorter gears and the more aggressive tune I got ,my gas mileage has def suffered. At the end of the day though all the pro's the six speed brings out weighs any of the con's. I just wished they could of lengthened the gears some for daily use.

Here's mine TY856WB3KA which seems to be the exact same transmission!

EDIT: it's not the same. Looked it up. Yes yours is a spec c BUT you have transmission cooler lines. You should hook up something up?

Mine doesn't whine or anything like that. 4 years is a long time. What fluids are you running in your trans and rear end? Are you running an R160 or R180? Do you have a mismatched final drive (unlikely but still gotta ask). I don't want to get you worried. Mind posting a video so I can hear the noise? You don't have a factory transmission cooler do you?

I wouldn't waste money on a brand new 6spd, for a little more you could get a full v.8 swap. Used 6spds with everything you need regularly sell for under $3k. I got a full drivetrain for $6k

That is where I bought mine, but after you do all the little parts (clutch, flywheel, etc it was about 5500. Paid directly to Flatiron

I would strongly disagree, and say the opposite. The shorter gearing really helped the 2.0 get in its power band, which is not much of one since it has no torque below 4000. My car feels faster, much more fun to drive. I do not notice shifting more at all.

I am so angry I didn't do a 6-speed swap. I ended up paying $4,100 for 5-speed rebuild. I was quoted $2,000. It took a month to get my car back and I am not happy with rebuild. At least I got a good clutch and a cusco mounts installed at the same time.
Its been over a year and the thing chatters like crazy when compression brake.

Where are you guys seeing these 6-speeds?

ya, 5 speeds are noisy as hell! FlatIron is where to get a new tranny.

Getting a much better front and center diff was a huge plus too!

Up until I browsed this thread I had never seen bugeye tails witht the rear fog. Now I want one lol! I had a pair of OEM rear fogs on my EF Civic Sedan. In my opinion they totally change the look even though it's a small detail.

I will try and get a video tomorrow if I can. I do have the factory cooler but not hooked up. I have a R180. Everything drives and shifts smooth but I wonder.
4 years was along time, tons of change ups and it's a huge conversion, started it's life off as a 2.5rs now with a built motor, 30r and everything you could think of +
