1st car to red light: PULL THE F*** UP TO IT AS FAR AS YOU CAN
cars behind first car: DO THE SAME

hate all that goddamn inching forward while the light is red

We almost had to divert to divorce court from my ensuing tirade, but she doesn't do it any more.
Especially if it's the 1st car in line leaving 20+ feet to the stop line. Some old towns don't have triggers/sensors in the road that far back.

I think manual transmissions and inching forward are why there are 20' gaps sometimes.

What I've observed is different....

<stop at light either up front or behind other car>
<head down into phone not moving until everyone else does>

This relys on someone paying attention.

I've gotten more han a few people to run red lights by acting like I was going to go

Some of you need to find a happy pill or something when you're driving. You get way to worked up over **** you can't control from other drivers.

I turn on the classical music station, and just don't care about what others do until they do something really stupid. Then I loudly call them names and resume listening to music.

Especially if I am heading to work in the morning, I don't have a particular hurry to get there, unless there is something scheduled that requires me to be there at a certain time. In that case, I leave a bit earlier.

Life is too short and fragile to rage over something like that. Bleh.

I see that too but notice they usually slowly inch forward while surfing the net, then slam the brakes when they look up and realize they are about to hit someone.

I prefer to look at it differently. Being indifferent, blase towards it, is just as infuriating. Just becuase you can't control them doesn't you should ignore what’s going on. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Your privilege doesn't supercede mine. Mine doesn't supercede yours. I am not taking from you, don't take from me. We're on equal ground here. I will defend my EQUAL privilige from you taking it from me where we're supposed to share. And that's the key part here, people are doing things on purpose and, frankly, enough is enough.

Event hijackers.

Wife is out of town so I figured this weekend I could take the Evo out with my buddy who bought a toy/weekend car recently as well. Turns out he can't take his out, so we said we'd go to the bar for beers instead. We pick a place and are set. Cool. Then in the group guys chat, we say this date, this place, let's go! Two guys say they're in and then exactly what I told my buddy would happen happens. His older brother, who drives a newer Camaro and just got back from vacation in Paris, comes in saying that craft beer bar is too expensive. Another guy chimes in the same. Mind you, we're talking a normal craft beer bar, nothing out of the ordinary. The problem is last time we hung out, we had pizzas at one guy's sister in law's retaurant and then walked to a convenience store, bought some tall boys and drank in the back of a pickup truck in the street. Now don't get me wrong, that was fun times and it's nice to live like the youth sometimes, but we're also mid-30s and can afford a few decent beers once a year. They flat out refuse to go to real bars, claiming cost every single time. Even weirder because one guy in the group literally works for Costa Rica Craft Brewing. Meanwhile, they drive Camaros, BMWs, do Crossfit and have no problem spending money but the $3 extra for a beer is crossing the line. That's what grinds me gears, along with the predictable aversion to real beer bars.

I'm sure tonight will be fun drinking buckets of piss water beer with the gang, but I told my buddy they're going to want to change the location we've decided on and sure enough, it's the first thing they do once we invite them in the group chat. It's his older brother who wants to change it, so younger bro folds easy.

Feels.
There's a guy in my single's group who has taken to posting suggestions for alternate venues, claiming "they have better beer at x, or even at y", meanwhile he RSVPs maybe and rarely shows up. Why take issue with the venue after it's already been decided and then not even attend?

You should start openly mocking your friends for being stingy, IMO.

Nowadays when we(friends, family, etc...) make plans it’s majority rules. Sorry, if 7 of us can make it on Saturday and 1 of you wants to change it to Sunday, you’re going to have to sit this one out. No hard feelings.

Oh, I'm at that point and already made this meme to throw at him:

The only wrinkle is I risk coming off as "the rich gringo" who can afford to throw money around but that's nonsense because this group of friends all went to an expensive, private English speaking school here. And we're talking a few bucks on beers. The $5/gal gas here costs more.

Find some new friends or pare down the losers.

There's nothing worse than going out for a good time only for it to be ruined by skinflints.

Eh, we have fun when we're together. It just turns into too much of a committee and quorum to plan something simple.

Now the time is going to be an issue, too. I said lets do 8, he says that's too late. I know damn well from driving to play soccer with these guys at 7 that it takes a hellish 1.5hrs to travel the 10 miles at that time and no way I'm doing that. It's a <30min drive with no traffic which should be mostly cleared up by 8. So not only did he not like the location, now he doesn't like the time.

So tell them to **** off or we'll see you at 8. Pretty simple.

The reason people act that way is because they’re used to getting their way. It’s not your responsibility to accommodate or train them. Majority makes the plans and sticks with them.

You are 100% right on that. He's definitely the unofficial group leader and everyone goes along with his calls, so that becomes the majority. I was just gonna get beers with his brother since we couldn't take the cars out but since no one can hang out without consulting everyone in case they get offended, he had to open it up to the group and the whole thing was hijacked. So now the guy I was supposed to be going with (his brother) has already put his tail between his legs and said he's sick and probably won't drink, acquiescing completely.

It's not that I wouldn't have fun tonight with what it's turning into. It's the predictable hijacking and controlling of others' plans when opened up to the group.

TIL Doug hangs out with 19yo females. And not in a productive way.

Seriously though, my wife and her friends used to be TERRIBLE about stuff like this. It was always foreign to me as the group of friends I’ve had for 20 years were rarely ever like this. It’s been about 15 years and I’ve finally gotten her to the point of just making a plan with the majority and somewhat sticking to it. There will always be those people though unfortunately.

Buy your own craft beer and don’t share it with them at least. Bonus points if you sulk in the corner too.

My roommate used to be like that. A few of us would go out, have a good time doing something then find a place to eat/drink a few that night. He wasn't into running, hiking or anything like that outside much so we'd just tell him where & when later.

Always to expensive.
Always "not very good".
Always to many people.

Finally we just quit asking him because he never came. He'd sit at home, watch tv and get a to-go pizza from up the street.

Mind you, he had the latest tv, xbox, a nice/decent Chevy truck and would buy $50 a weekend in golf balls bc he'd lose so many.

MiraLAX farts! Frequent, voluminous fragrant farts! They sound like passing air thru a 5 gallon bucket of wet oatmeal (think wet mud farts).

Yet I have not crapped, and it's been 24 hours. ARRGGHH! I fear one of these farts will result in me losing the gamble (think clean-up on Aisle 5).

Once you start moving again, you need more fiber. Don't pound the fiber until the blockage is cleared.

I take three stool softeners every night before bed, and a regimine of metamucil. Stomach issues/diseases suck. Take my word for it.

I eat a salad a day, love Brussels sprouts, green beans, apples, Dave's Killer Bread (Good Seed), Wasa whole rye crisps, etc. I just don't get why the poop frequency has gone to hell in the last few years (yes, I am old and will be 62 in mid March).

i get it, i'm generally cheap and in my 20's/early 30's i would've rather just had a couple pitchers of something cheap. Now if I go out with my friends, it's fewer, but better beers. That's fine with me. Doesn't mean we don't still act like heathens and get crazy sometimes, but you step up now and then if you want to hang. an extra $20 2-3 times a year won't kill you. Plus, if you're there for awhile, you don't get ****-faced and can actually get home as well and you feel better the next day.
