Head Gasket Repair San Diego?
I just picked up a bone stock 02 wrx with 200k+ miles. Its got a blown head gasket, but still drives...doesn't overheat, but blows coolant out of the overflow reservoir after driving for a bit. Obvious exhaust gasses getting into the coolant.
I've contacted a few subaru shops and was quoted over $3k for head gasket replacement...seems like a could get a used engine installed for that price. Anybody have any intel on where i could get a HG repair done for around $1500 (or less) in the San Diego area? Any help would be appreciated.

Check out AntSpec, they are located in Fountain Valley (Orange Country). You can check with them to get pricing to compare withe shops in the San Diego area. Depending where you are located in San Diego, it's about a hour to hour and a half drive. Ask for Ronnie when you call and him that Anthony with the 2018 STI WRB referred you.

Ouch. Even the dealer quoted $1200 per head. Same price Suby Specialties quoted. $3k is ridiculous.

Try Metro Performance in Murrieta. They're a suby shop. I've heard good things, but I haven't been since I'm in LA. Can't hurt to call to get a quote. Let me know how it goes!

Considering the motor already has 200K+ on it, only replacing the HG may be a waste of money, since there's probably not alot of life left in that engine.
I saw this on craigslist: $400 for a pair of rebuilt heads with exchange. Maybe they can rebuild your short block for a reasonable price too. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...552099088.html Last edited by Fierysun; 06-15-2018 at 01:25 PM. |
