Not really related to DSP, but I finally put the 98OBS trans into my FSP Impreza as a legal UD/BD. The Brighton trans uses the same gearing as the RS except for the final drive (at least for my 96). The OBS uses a taller 2-3-4-5 ratio which, in 2nd gear, at my revlimit of 7k, took me to 60mph! Grunt out of the corners isn't effected too much either. Now I wish I'd have thrown this box in before the DC Pro.....I don't make enough power to need the OBX LSD in this box....but it might come in handy down the road or in the rain.

Hopefully we'll have both the DSP RS and FSP Brighton in Topeka this year.....probably a pipe dream, but it'd be kinda cool to bring both cars, if my co-driver can find a quicker co-driver for the RS.

Jay Storm

You know, I had a whole dream about an FSP 2.2L the other day, then Tara told me you already did it!

That being said, I could be interested in a co-drive in either the DSP or FSP car at Nats....

And yes, my dream even included the OBS tranny swap for better gearing.

Your dreams are very detailed!!!

After seeing the reigning DSP national champ (Mike Shields) and the runner up (Alex S.) compete at the DC Pro Solo, that class is haulin' fast!!! I see Jinx Jordan compete regularly enough to know that FSP is no slouch either!!

Pat... thanks for letting me drive that beast at the Subaru Challenge. You've got a good shot at the podium this year I think.

I'm rooting for you. Looked like it was handilng better from the pics at the Midiv than from the shots at the Subaru challenge.

I don't think they'll clear the 4 pots. Stock RS brakes is about as big as you can get at least with the back spacing pats had. IMHO.

It helped that I already had the car (which I ran in DSP back in 2001 sporting an EJ18 )...so all I had to do was source the right motor/trans.

Depending on which car or cars we bring, a co-drive could be arranged.

Yeah, the current DSP is getting faster every month it seems...... I think the e46 330 is getting close to making some waves, even if the Peru results didn't quite show it.

I'd love to co-drive one of the SP vehicles John. But I'm already commited to B-stock for nationals. Either way, hope to see both vehicles there this year!

We're going to take our time with the RS, so it'll sit out this year. We're both going to run in FSP this year. That gives me the time to carefully get the Link ECU into his car and tuned for next season. I'm not done with the class....just taking a slight detour.

So Pat, where do you think your car has an advantage over the BMW's? We know it isn't acceleration, we know it isn't weight distribution/chassis balance, and we know it isn't tire:weight ratio. Does the AWD help that much digging out of corners?

It's not just AWD...

It's the run-for-the-hills-BSP-needs-to-be-fixed-and-a-new-AWDSP-class-should-be-created AWD!
