Default Interesting sound

Hey gang.
So I noticed this sound last week on my 2011 Outback 2.5 (EJ253). Seems like once the engine is all warmed up, maybe 4-5 minutes of driving in the summer right now, getting what seems like almost a metallic rattling/rubbing sound happening in the lower 1K RPM range. This also only happens only WOT. Almost like rubbing brakes.Havenít noticed prior to this, and havenít make any mods recently. All I have on my car is an aFe intake and a Nameless Axleback Muffler Delete. Carís had a lot of routine maintenance done here in the last month or so, and donít beat the **** out of it. Wondering if itís just the cars age/milage showing or something more sinister.

I'd start by checking the heat shields on the catifold. Those cars at that age tend to rattle those heat shields a lot.

Sounds like a good place to start. Good thing theyíll be coming off whenever Inferno Fabs sends me my new headers and J-Pipe.

Have you had the timing belt replaced? Could be a tensioners or your water pump. Grab a stethoscope and check around with it.
