Default Changing tranny and diff oil - double checking...

I'm having my tranny fluid changed tomorrow, and since I don't have time to do it myself I want to make sure I tell the guy exactly what I want done.

In the tranny I'm going to use the stock Valvoline 75/90. After searching it seems like the safe bet.

I was debating whether to use the same, or switch to Mobil1 75/90 in the rear diff. It seems there is not much of a difference in this case.

My real question is... is the front diff inside the tranny, or does it need to be drained and changed seperately? I'm pretty sure it's inside the tranny, but I wanted to double check that.

thanks.

If your transmission is a manual then yes, the front differental is in the same case and shares the oil. Mobil 1 75/90 is great for the rear differntal but, not the transmission.

Okay thanks. After doing some more searching it sounds like Redline 75w90NS is also a good option. I might go ahead and just use that in both.

I'm sure this is a regular question here, but with the reputation of these trannies I wanted to be cautious.

this is an '02 wrx, by the way.

I went with the RP SynchoMax because I can't find Redline anywhere. It's had mixed results here on the boards, but I seem to have come across a good response for every bad one, so I figured I'd give it a try.

I'll just have to order the Redline online for my next change in 15k miles.
