Ya I have seen like 5 sti that have replaced motors with under 80k miles. I mean I have a saturn with over 200k and then engine runs fine. Burns oil but runs fine.

I figured this, I need a car so I'm just going to get a sub $5,000 car that's a manual. That way I have a car and my dad said he needs something good on gas to drive sometimes cuz his trailblazer is a guzzler. So when I get a beater I wont feel rushed to buy something. If it works out I buy a car and 4 days later find a sti I love for a good price, and what im looking for so be it. But I don't wanna just buy an sti to get an sti cuz I want one. I want to get the "right one" where I don't rush. I have seen deals before but had a car already.

So if u guys see a sti or Wrx for a deal, let me know. I would like to come to meets if u guys have them and just soak up as much info as I can to learn about these cars. I have wanted one since need for speed underground if u remember that game. And I have researched and thought about a gto but u have to dump amounts of cash to get it to handle.

IMO the sti or Wrx is one of the best cars because it's auto cross, snow, drag, daily driver, or grocery getting right off the bat.

Thanks for your help guys and I hope to become part of the family here.

^ How old are you?

I ask because if you buy a beater for a while, then try to make it until the new (hopefully 2014) wrx/sti comes out. If it's the **** and everyone wants it, then the price of used 09's + would probably drop in price. Right now if you are looking at used wrx's..especially the widebody my11+, you are better off just buying new with the way they are pricing them.

This is the response I got from prosport about my gauge not changing color.

"The source yours using for headlights is overpowering the accessory source, that's why it wont change back if you start the car with the lights on."

Does this make sense to anyone else? Both gauges are connected to the same source and only my boost gauge does not change color when the lights come on. My oil pressure gauge functions fine.

I tapped the fuse for

Fat fingered the post button...anyway I tapped the illumination fuse (#12) for power when the lights are switched on. Is there even another fuse to tap that functions this same way?

that and the 5.7L ones are a little slow..the 6.0Ls are nice but by that time ur into a wrx almost a sti

Lol, maybe you should scrap the car idea and move out . Just keep saving money if you can and wait for the one you want, don't settle and regret it.

It's only sad if you think it is.

I'd be looking for a Bugeye WRX if you're looking for a winter beater. I paid 4700 for mine and it's in great shape. Then you can take your time and find the perfect STi, or you may see that owning a STi is no longer something you want.

Or he could buy my clean 2006 Wrx. Maybe with all of the changes from 05 to 06 he would be thrilled to own it.

This is the car I actually want

I mean wow it is so clean, I'm willing to pay his price but I asked for him to go to $21,000. Cleanest sti I have seen for sale yet for a decent price.

He's asking 21k, and you asked if he'd take 21k? I don't think you understand how negotiating works... My general rule is 10%, but since that car is so clean and it's exactly what you want I may stay a little light of that (like 5% maybe). You're also paying cash which is a HUGE benefit to the guys selling cars in that price range, so you'd be back down to the 10% range.

I would have started the price at 19k, but that's just me. Good luck with your offer.
