Currect project Auto to manual bugeye to blobeye
Hey everyone, New to this website and I'm looking for some forums about my currect topic which is Auto to manual conversion ANNNND before you say just buy a manual and forgot the swap read my post and you'll understand why that's not a cost effective route, I already have 2 cars for this project.
Quick note, when I start this project and have the information I need ill be making a separate thread. Super excited to show how much it changes! So I have my 2nd WRX an automatic 03 World Rally Blue bugeye I traded a truck I bought for $1700, so yes I bought my WRX for $1700 since I was flipping cars to get it however the car does have some flaws. The motor was swapped with a crate motor which the owner claimed it has 30k miles, who knows if that's true tho and there's a Vacuum leak but I don't think its that, I think its a IACV issue since the idle is bouncing. Donor car is a manual blobeye 05 wrx with 210k miles (clutch is out) and the motor will need a rebuild so I'll just take it apart and use what I need and sell the rest possibly keep the block and build it to swap later. So I ask from you members of NASIOC to post a link for me about the conversion with as much detail as possible. I will be swapping the transmission and the front end. I know kinda what I need to do but I don't want to skip a step and dropping the transmission, swapping pedals and the gear ratio is just something I haven't come across myself. I've done research but someone that's done it already with a guide would help. Ive read some conflicting arguments but I can't seem to find a guide that someone has actually done this since everyone just says to sell it and buy another.

its called a Service Manual. you will need one. you can get a factory service manual, or you can opt fo the haynes service manual since its a bit cheaper.
its very simple strip car A, place car B into car A excatly how it came out of car B. the GD chassis literally go together like lego. good luck! enjoy your project. |

Other option: delicatly remove vin plates from bugeye, rip plates off blobeye, carefully mount bugeye's plates on the blobeye. Theres also a stamped VIN number on the pass side of the firewall, cover it or something.
If the blobeye is blown up, swap motors and go reg it. Actually, if bugeye is registered already you dont have to do jack. People do face swaps all the time, an 03 blobeye isnt going to raise any eyebrows. And they are the same factory color code, you're friggin golden my dude. |

Haha I thought about but swapping vins sounds like a small risk I'd rather not take plus the motor in the 03 has far less miles so I'd have to swap motors if I wanted to keep it which I'd have to disconnect the tranny anyways. Either way it was a project, this way it's not likely I'll get in trouble for swapping bins even tho neither are illegal unless I drive them without registration. |

Waiting on the clutch, it was damaged in shipping so I can't put the transmission in yet. I'm working on the wiring at the moment while I wait. Everything is removed from the car and I just need to figure out the plugs on the transmission and the plugs for the clutch pedal. Worn clutch 05 radiator bracket Current mess of wires I'm figuring out from my donor car. Pedals but still wiring Simple and easy installed Simple easy installed And now I wait for my clutch... again... |

At the end, you can throw the auto and high mile motor in the other car, do a bit of wiring, and have a wrx to thrash or track. Which would be nice.
