Pistons were physically removed. I was pretty disappointed when I found out.

No crap, I would be too. I wonder if someone switched them out. What is the engine out of? And where did you get it from? Some of these JDM shops are known for doing crap like that.

That's a possibility. The engine was supposed to be from a v5 type R, but I later found out that the engine had been in and out of the car a few times before it was shipped to me from Japan by a US Marine.

A little update, previously I thought that the square dish V5 pistons were cast, but apparently, the V5 Type RA pistons are square dish and FORGED. So, it looks like these could be forged pistons after all, plus they feel pretty light, which further supports the possibility.

I know ur happy. I know my pistons are forged, the engine only has 37k on it and its never been worked on let alone taken apart. Lol... I'm still rebuilding the bottom end, ill keep the stock forgies for a back up I guess, maybe just set them on the shelf for another build later down the road!
How is ur project going?

Does anyone know what size Oil Pump is stock for the Ver5/6 STi? 10mm? 11mm? And is it big enough for a 400+awhp build? I'm swapping out the stock pan for a 06+STi pan and a KillerB pick-up and baffle to compliment it.

I'm looking at a few different Turbos for my build.. which do u think is best for a 400+awhp build , for a Ver5 Type-R? Fully built bottom end, and possibly heads as well. Looking for a somewhat torquey build, which I know the 1.5 will produce plus it was made for the 2.0, but what about the Polka Pickle? And Garrett? I think the 2.5xtr or the gtx3071r is the best bet, just a Lil spendy!

-Blouch Dom 1.5
-Blouch Dom 2.5
-Gt3071r
-gtx3071r
-gt3076r

What do you guys think?
I like the 1.5, I'm looking for a reliable strong build.

Ver5 has vf28
Ver6 vf29 and apparently rumored that the early Ver6 had a vf28 but I'm pretty.sure the Type-R/RA had vf29.

The vf34 came on the Ver7 spec c

What kind of harness do u need? What engine do u have? You shouldn't need anything for it bcuz its plug n play. Just swap out your stock ECU and plug in the Apexi.

V6 ej207 I do not have the harness from the engine to the power fc... I have the JDM harness.. I can't really understand the situation that the mechanics at rennermotorsport are in. From my understanding the Guy told me that he was going to need a pinout diagram from the power fc because he has to make a harness or something of that nature.

Not at all bro. All u do is unplug the harness from the stock ECU, and then plug it into the Apexi PFC. It's as simple as that. If they are saying otherwise, they are either trying to rip you off, or you don't have the right Apexi ECU.

now that you said that. Its starting to sound like I have the wrong ECU. I REALLY hope that isn't the case.

By any chance do you know your ECU model number?
I just asked the guy whom I purchased the pfc from which motor he bought it for and he said the ej20k. Now, are those complete different ECU setups? I think I'm screwed ...

Well it looks like you have the right one.
I don't know what else to say. The manual is going to tell u exactly what I did.
First disconnect the negative battery terminal. Then You unplug your ECU, and then you plug IN the Apexi unit. Very straight forward.
Good Luck bro!

Haven't check this thread in a while, my heads sat at the machine shop for about a month before they finally began working on it, but everything's basically together now, only hold up is the injectors. I bought a set of 565 dark blue's from the classified, but all 4 ended up not spraying at all, so now I'm getting a set of Deatschwerks 650cc. That'll teach me to always try to buy used to save a few bucks...Some things you can buy used, but I guess injectors is one of the things that's probably better off purchased new. =\

Can't wait to finish everything and get it tuned!
