Default identify engine EJ22

Hi.
I bought a 1998 GC8 in Belgium (I'm from Spain) the engine was supposed to be an EJ20G, but it comes with a turbocharged EJ22.
They tell me it could be an EJ22G. They don't know because they've never seen one. XD
Can you help me identify it?
Engine type EJ22
Serial number 629728.

If you have an actual EJ22G it came out of a 22B which would be pretty awesome. You’d have to take the heads off to see if it’s closed deck and a real 22B. Or find a list of serial numbers of all the 22Gs that were in production haha.

But if you look under the alternator on the left side and see EJ22 the it could be a regular EJ22 that someone swapped in, or if you’re lucky a real 22G.

under the alternator puts EJ22.
Can it be a n / a converted with the heads of EJ20G?
Is there a way to identify it without having to open it?
Thank you

I donít know of any definitive way to tell a 22G apart from a 22E unless you take the heads off. The 22G has a #5 thrust crank as well but that canít be seen unless you split the block. You could scope the bores with a camera and see what the pistons look like for clues.

An na open deck block with 20G heads is a great hybrid build if done correctly.
