Hmm are our axles the same on the NA baja's? I might need a new passenger one.

Subaru lists a different part number for N/A Bajas than the turbo models. Rock auto shows the same part number for both N/A and Turbos.

Check to see if the axle is secured to the transmission output shaft with a roll pin. If it is, the aftermarket axle will be correct. If it is NOT secured to the output shaft with a roll pin, but it "snaps" into the transmission. Use a Forester axle from the aftermarket.

If you go with Subaru parts, this post is meaningless. They will get you the correct axle.

any idea what intake pipes (like short ram or cold air) will work with the baja turbo? i am thinking about getting one in the next few months but i am not sure if they will be able to attach to the car itself.

I have an AEM short ram for the Forester XT on my BAJA.
Also, I have a question for those running catless downpipes; how are you passing inspection? How about CELs?

well, my car is registered in south carolina, so we don't have emissions tests, but i would wager that i could pass a test if it didn't involve a sniffer... you can disable the CEL's with RomRaider and a tactrix cable (which also allows you to tune the ecu yourself). The cable runs around 100 to 150 dollars (you don't need the 2.0, just the basic cable).

Catless pipes on a turbo shouldn't generate CELs (not 100% sure). if you worried about emissions during tests: use a high flow cat in the mid pipe. And if your really crazy, pay a muffler shop to make a race pipe kit. After you pass emissions go home, and swap the cat out with the race pipe.

I'm running 2 cats now, one in the down pipe the other in the mode pipe. My up pipe was gutted months ago. I'm thinking about selling my mid pipe and installing a premolars race pipe.

Forester and Impreza seats bolt right up. Only issue is Forester seats are *mighty* tall and your headroom is at risk.

hopefully in the next week or two i will have an answer on whether the WRX cold air intakes will work with the baja... i am picking up an APS 65mm setup to see how it fits or what it takes to make it fit.

All EJ255 and EJ257 parts should fit without worry.

oh yeah, the engine parts will work fine, but i am unsure on the cold air intake since it has to go into the fender and the spacing between our cars might be different compared to the impreza/forester platform. i am 90% sure it will fit since our stock airboxes look to be the same part. Also, the space inside the fender might be different and could require a different shaped filter. hopefully it will bolt in without any problems...

You shouldn't have any problems with any cold air intake. The most modding you'll do is trim the fender hole so the pipe isn't torquing the turbo inlet.

I've been told though, if your tuned on a RAM intake; don't install a CIA without another tune...you might get over boost.

yeah, the APS i am getting is the 65 mm version so it shouldn't require much in the way of tuning with respect to the MAF scaling (i'm replacing the stock intake box and such), but it should give me a bit better throttle response and more flow and mostly sound cool since the snorkus will be gone...

And just as a quick reminder - Baja Turbo front axles are NOT the same as Baja NA front axles. Baja Turbo front axles are the exact same axle as what you would find in the front of a Forester Turbo of the same year.

Nearly all auto parts companies out there have this listed wrong.

it would be worth noting in the OP that the boost control system on the Baja needs to be modified in one way or another in order to produce more boost than the stock 12 psi. The restrictor pill in the stock tubing is different than other TD04 equipped cars and limits the boost as such. either getting a different pill, or upgrading to a 3 port boost solenoid will fix this and allow higher than stock boost.

FYI the Grimmspeed Boost solenoid for the 04-07 STI will bolt into the stock location. no wiring or fabrication required, just running the tubing and retuning for the new solenoid.

Agreed! 04-07 Sti BCS is the way to go.
Buyer beware, don't install this without a tune! You will over boost all F'ing day.

Well... The APS 65mm Cold Air intake is in, along with a Gimmick Motorsports After-Maf tube-thing. You have to make a bracket to bolt it to the fender since the APS one is for the impreza which uses a different snorkus than the Baja. It is also a bit of a fight to get the damn thing in since you have to kinda put the end into the fender then twist it around to get it fit.

It isn't a hard install, just kinda frustrating since the Baja is a bit different than the impreza when it comes to removing the inner fender liner to get the snorkus out.

As for the bracket, i haven't made mine yet, i'm doing that tomorrow. shouldn't be too hard, just a few holes and bending a piece of metal to make it.

I'll take a guess of making it a DIY rating of 2.5 just from a frustration standpoint and having to adapt a part that was not designed with out platform in mind at all... also, i am not sure if the original, super long K&N filter will fit, i used a K&N RU-3130 for mine since i bought only the piping. i think it MIGHT fit, but i am not sure.

for now, a craptacular cellphone pic will have to do...
