the old **** waffle in the way of what looks to be a nice mint late 90's BMW 7 series.

https://i.imgur.com/geNZ8cK.jpeg

^^^ both of those reminded me: last time going to the grocery store ( at night ) I see a car coming up behind. Dimmish lights but look to be sealed beam, interesting. The lights were spread way out, wtf is this. A late 70's caddy sedan wafted by me. I don't recall the last time I've seen one and especially one that didn't have its tail light housings disintegrated. Almost can't imagine something that freaking being normal to drive. Also you're right I can't imagine why SUV that would call that caddy a skinny bitch are normal to drive now either.

I can buy the install tools, totally destroy my parts in the installation process and buy the parts again for that price. I've already replaced every other thing on the bike myself, guess I'll keep working on it.
Try Piney Mountain or Sun Rift. They are the best shops around that don't rip you off compared to Carolina Tri or any other pretentious rodie shop.

If ya need a hand, hit me up. I'm currently trying to rebuild my dropper seat post. Let's see how fun that is.

Eh, the torsion springs aren't that hard, but you do have to pay attention to what you're doing. I've helped my dad replace ones on their door. A few years back I had mine replaced, by a garage door company, because I still have the home warranty to work through, and it was around $500 because they wanted to change both springs. I can't see why they wanted to replace the cables as well.

Also, be sure to OIL YOUR TORSION SPRINGS.

When the torsion spring broke on my 12' tall garage door on my barn, I hired someone to come in. At the time it was <$500 but that was pre-covid. I can't remember why but I needed to adjust the tension on the door on my garage, I recall it being relatively straight forward but yes, if you were to lose focus the tension would give you a wallop if you weren't being careful.

Gripe from last night:
- There is a corridor that is under construction near us, they are doing a bunch of updating work and it used to be 2 lanes going each direction at 70+. They have it down to 3 tight lanes on one side but they move a barrier everyday to alternate which direction has the 2vs1 split. Last night we were on campus, watched a soccer game, got on the interstate to head home and less than 1000' after we could have gotten off, traffic jam. I see police and ambulance trying to get in from behind us but there is literally no where for anyone to go / pull off the side to for about 60' because of the guard rail and the construction barrier. We sat there for 2 hrs. I hope no one got injured severely because the response time would have been terrible. The most frustrating part outside of being stuck in a car for 2 hrs with kids that wanted to know why we couldn't move at 10pm was we were so close to where we could have gotten off. I'm positive that one officer spending 30-40min of that time could have cleared up a majority of the back end of the log jam but I digress. It is probably easier to do nothing in that case than to do something and of course it would have meant people driving the wrong way for 1000' but it would have been much more proactive.

What application "needs" non synthetic oil? Or are you just looking for cheap ass oil?

7 pressure washer engines don't need synthetic. Two mower engines don't need syn.

20yr old pickup doesn't need syn.

Don't need it but why wouldn't you run it in them? If it is easier to get and cheaper?

Full syn is *not* cheaper.

Dino was usually $5-$7 cheaper per 5qt jug depending on brand.

I could usually pick up dino 10w30 at Walmart for $16 for 5qts. That was like 3mo ago.

The full syn jug I picked up yesterday was $22.

Manual for the engines say change oil every 20hr of operation, which is ridiculous cause we hit that in a week.

I usually change it every 6mo and yell at our guys to make sure they check it regularly and add as required.

There are kamikaze gnats around here that are trying to fly into my nose. Not "oops", they're aiming for nostrils.

I know this isn't commercial usage, but I haven't changed the oil once in my B&S (china made) push mower and it's running fine

My personal riding mower has the 12hp B&S. I can count on one hand the number of times I've changed the oil on it in the last 25yrs. One of them was after the float valve failed and the crankcase got filled with gasoline.

Of course, that's the 2nd engine on that mower. This happened to the original. Stupid oil...who needs it, amirite?

TIL that riding lawn mowers have 12hp motors. What is that a riding lawn mower for ants?

Edit: I guess you did say 25 year old machine. That would make sense.

So I have a work provided phone and I refused to carry two phones so I got rid of my personal cell phone a while ago. I have been persusing options for a different employer and I'm sad to say how spoiled I am. I have gotten used to unlimited data on my device. I priced out getting a new but not the most recent phone (iPhone 15) with an unlimited data plan and I was amazed at the cost. It caused me to think about how we are like fish, growing to the size of our proverbial bowl with spending.

A year of prepaid unlimited with Mint Mobile is under $400, it's new phone season so they should be cheaper/on sale soon.

The solution is not to carry a work phone. I told my boss no years ago.

I also would not marry work and personal phones.

Murray 42in mower. Used on a .28 acre lot. I think at one point they made an 8hp or 10hp one as well.

In fact, the only reason I bought a riding mower was because when I got it, gas was less than $1, my boat had a 70gal tank, and my dock is 600ft long.

I used it to tow a wagon with 35gal of gas out to my boat to refuel.

I use it to move trailers around and pull a wagon almost as muh as I do to mow.

When my FIL passed away, my MIL offered me their 25hp John Deere lawn tractor. I turned it down as that damn thing would not have fit in my garage and would have been ridiculous on a .28 acre lot.

25 years is probably before they started their hp shenanigans. Same motor was sold as 17hp 5 years later.

Actually, I think I got a notice for a class action from that. I *know* I got one because my air compressor was mis-rated. In both cases, any award were going to Habitat for Humanity. So after legal expenses, HfH probably owed $7M to the attorneys.

No, I won't accept $20 (cash!) for the thing I've listed on Craigslist for $150.
