Default 97 LGT fuel trim code

Last night I was driving on the freeway and my car started spurrting. It's been running funky for the past couple of weeks, in which I changed out the HG's and cleaned the IAC. The car was running at a low idle when I bought it 8k ago and the IAC cleaning didn't help the idle.. Instead of low idle now, the cars idle jumps up and down from about 2 or 300 to 1000 rpm. it also doesn't want to free up it's power, it will bog for a second and then jump to normal power and it will continue this throughout the time driving it. Any ideas to if this may be a weak fuel pump or if it sounds like I am loosing an injector? Forgot to mention it's running rich, fuel can be smelt through the exhaust.

Check the spark plugs. That could explain why you are running rich and why you are sputtering at low rpms. I had a fouled plug and it was causing backfire through my intake and ridiculous sputtering in the low rpms.

I'm also thinking it could be a worn out IAC valve?

The IACV wouldn't cause a physical misfire, it would just cause your idle to be funny. What did the spark plug look like from cylinder 2? You will be able to tell how your engine is misfiring by the condition of your plug. Check your spark wires, check the coil that goes to cylinder 2.

hmm, The spark plug looked fine. I've had fouled plugs in my other legacy and this plug was in almost perfect condition. I pulled the wire off the ign. coil and spark was going from the coil to other stuff not the wire and the car dropped idle as well. I believe that means both are functioning properly right?
