Default How bad did I mess up my WRX :(

Ok, I'll try to recount this as best as I can, but it's 1 AM, so , we'll see how it goes.

About a week ago, I thought I heard some odd faint, umm, tough to describe, almost a gurgle/flapping noise. This was on my way to class one evening I think, and didn't show up again, until today. Driving to church this morning (in some really cold, and some snowy/icy conditions), I noticed this sound again at low speeds. Once I got on the highway (roads were clear), I noticed the sound was more pronounced, again, sort of a really fast flapping. However, it really only did it when I was maintaining speed or off the gas completely. Any time I gave it any gas, let it get into the boost, etc, it would go away, and as soon as I let up, it was back. Now, another thing I noticed was, when accelerating onto the highway, once I got up to 4k rpm, I noticed my boost going up to almost 20psi, and when it hit 5k rpm, it stuterred, the CEL came on, then it started pulling again, and the CEL went off. However, another note is that once you got over 4k rpm, the RPM's did act weird, where it would rev fast, but you wouldn't pull as much as expected. Almost like you were slipping (wasn't), or like if you slipped the clutch going into a lower gear, and the transmission is trying to catch up with the engine.

Anyway, on my way home tonight from the super bowl, it didn't really seem to be doing any of that. I gave it some gas in 3rd, and the boost stayed about normal. Once I got off the highway, I did my 1-2, let 2nd ride some to about 4k, went to 3rd, again, seemed good. Did that one more time, but when I let up out of 2nd, it backfired. I put in the clutch, and my turn came up, and as I was slowing down, realized that the car had cut off. Got it started quickly, pulled onto my road, then cut off again. At this point, it can start, but it seems like the exhaust is plugged, forcing it to cut off. What yall think the problem is here? It has the UTEC, VF34 turbo with supporting mods, etc (I'll get the list later if need be, too tired right now). Another thing to note is, and this is probably the cause of the problems. Awhile before the problem first showed up, I had changed it to a tuning setting that it ran into hire psi (I know, bad bad bad), and shifting out of 2nd there, it backfired. Though, at that time, it ran fine, but the problem started showing up maybe a week after that.

Since it died on the road, I had it towed to a local shop I've dealt with before (not with the WRX). Dunno if they're at all qualified to deal with a problem like this. There is a Subaru dealership in town, so might it just be better to get it towed there? Luckily, I don't have to pay two towing fees, insurance covered the first one :-)
