I think it is more akin to cost cutting measures in a traditionally cheap car market - agreed, definitely frustrating - as to the manual/leather in particular, the US just isn't a manual transmission market.

Looking good, is that 35%? Also how much does tint cost? 100-200? I think I'll get mine done as well.

Tint looks great. I was quoted $269. What's the difference with ceramic tint? I know this shop has one with a 2yr warranty and a diff tint rated for lifetime. Haven't gotten to talk with them about the differences yet.

not much of a difference. the only difference is

metallic interferes with radio signals and maybe radar detectors.

i have metallic tint on my sti and it does interfere with my radio because the antenna is in the glass while our impreza's have them on the top

Are you selling your roof rails? We don't have them in Canada.

Are the HIDs standard with the car or are they something you put in? A pic would be great!
The limited package has HID reflective low beam and it looks like this.

I've asked if the reflective HID on this model will generate terrible beam pattern and here is the response from Subaru Canada.

"Thank you for contacting Subaru Canada, Inc.The housing design for the HID lights have been in effect since 2009 on our Foresters and WRX/STI models with very positive results. There is no safety issue with having them, it is simply the newest option on the Impreza for 2012.

Thanks for pics of the HID lights.

It looks like the headlight housings are pretty much the same, so I wonder if it would be as simple as getting the bulbs and ballasts to put these in the US version.

The Canadian market is a closer match to the euro market than the US market. Canadians will generally accept a premium small car with premium features. US buyers think bigger is better, small is cheap, and WILL NOT spend bigger money on a smaller car. I think those attitudes are starting to change but it's just not here yet. How many F150s sell in the US alone every year? Something like 700,000.

To Subarus credit, I think they totally nailed me. I love my Sport Limited
