I need more help!
Ok, Since I got turned down by the bank for a Used 2.5RS and I can't quite Swing the Payments on a new one. I've decided to move onto other cars.
I've been looking and looking and I'm in the price range of about 10,000$ Canadian, including taxes and all that junk. So far my choices of other cars to by have been these. I've included blurbs about each of them. 1. 91-93 Legacy Sedan Turbo 5sp. (not easy to find from where I am) 2. 89-93 Toyota Celica All-trac Turbo. (Found only 1 so far) 3. 90's Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser/Mitsu Eclipse (I don't know much about these cars). *NOTE* I've stuck to the TURBO/AWD options because I just love those combo's. Does anyone have some input that may be of help in my situation? Or other cars that you could add to my list?

The Celica's a great care and rare. If you can find one that's in good condition, I'd say jump on it. -tim |

Tim, I've found 2 so far.
One in Quebec, a 92 fully loaded with 139,000kms and he wants 14,750$ Aqua in color 3 in Ontario, one I'd want 93 Black, 142,000, 8,900$. Cars are a pain to shop for... |

I'd hate to say this, but if you're looking for something that's easy on the pocketbook, I suggest staying FAR away from the Toyota and the Talon.
Not to say they aren't fantastic cars, but if anything goes wrong, you're looking at some serious change to repair it!! Example: My brother had an MY88 Celica All-Trac Turbo. AMAZING car, but when the exhaust went, new pieces had to come from Japan... The limited production (at least in North America) of these cars, and their lack of compatible components with non-awd/turbo models, will make it very difficult for you to repair without great expense. As for the Talon, I have only heard of reliability issues - I have no first hand experience with this car. I think that the Lemon Aid Used Car Guide (or Consumer Reports) should be your first stop; I doubt you want to end up with a money pit (well, at least regarding repairs! ) Best of luck, Kevin edit: bad grammar [This message has been edited by Skeandhu (edited May 14, 2001).] |

Kevin,
Thanks I'll take your info into my nugget and spit it out and read up on buyers guides later. [This message has been edited by QuickDrive (edited May 14, 2001).] |

Well if your looking for a fun to drive economical car, you might want to look at older model VW GTI VR6's .. if you look hard enough you'll find a good deal, and they are pretty fast cars, and incredibly fun to drive.
-casey Edit: well, the VR6 isnt all that economical, the 1.8t is a bit more (mpg wise). Sorry bout that, still 21-26mpg aint too bad for a V6. (sorry for vw stuff on a subaru board i just like german cars too!) [This message has been edited by caseynsb (edited May 14, 2001).] |
