How to fit 215/60r17 on 05 sti
Going to say this upfront. Sorry if this has been covered before but I can't really find any good info.
So here it goes. First off I have a 2005 Sti with king lift springs and the brembo brakes. Don't want to downgrade the breaks because well my budget sucks. I want to try and fit 215/60r17 all terrain tires on my set up for rally events and off road fun but I'm thinking the strut perch would get in the way (haven't had a chance to test fit anything yet) so I'm thinking smaller offset rims or spacers (current rim offset is +50) but then I have to worry about the fenders and them rubbing. Anyone with some advice on this or experience would be great. Or perhaps am I on the right track? I'm thinking if fenders are a problem would it be best to trim or flare the fenders? The total wheel diameter is going to be 27.1 inches. Looking at the Yokohama geolanders invade anyone is wondering. Again sorry if its been covered somewhere but good advice is much appreciated. Also I don't want to hear "downgrade brakes, go with smaller rim, blah blah blah" as I mentioned before my budget sucks and I've already done a stage 2 brake kit for the brembos.

fenders aint your problem.
the spring perch will not clear the tires. those will not fit without forester suspension. |

I figured that much that's why I was thinking wheel spacers to push the offset out to clear. But if I do that then I think fenders would become a problem. Besides. The springs I have are already installed. Would they also fit a forester strut?

You'd need something ridiculous like a 2" spacer to clear the perch. As far as the springs I have no first hand experience.

Just talked to primitive racing and found out ill need 04-05 forester xt struts to allow perch clearance but it will lift another inch to about 2.5 inches over stock with stock size tires and that might be too much on the axels as far as stress... Any lift I get from tires doesn't matter as far as CV angle though.

What kind of rally? Rally-x? Is there a reason you are not deeming winters suitable?

Well I would like to do winter tires but because I only h e one set of rims right now the winters would wear out quick in the Texas heat driving to the events. I'm probably just going to downgrade brakes and save up for a smaller rim with some winters or rally tires so all I have to do is swap them when I get to the event.

Just run all season tires until you can afford a dedicated set. I'll be fine if ur just getting into it. I decided on all seasons over winters so I can also use them on long trips etc and not kill my summers.
