My setup 2000rs-t
I will be running this setup in about a week let me know what you think, Comments, concerns. what else i should do for engine mangement.
-Wrx turbo -Wrx intercooler -Wrx Fuel pump -JE 8.5-1 Pistons -RRFPR 6-1 -unique motorsport up/down pipes -Sti headgaskets. -Probally an SAFC -ACT street Clutch and Flywheel -Proecm Chip i plan on running 10Psi with the low compression pistons, tell me what you guys think. I am the parts manager at a subaru dealership so i have alot i can use at my disposal. thanks |

Good luck with the AFC on your car. Not designed to work with 00 Imprezas.

you would be better off with a J&S ultrasafeguard instead of that AFC. The RRFPR should put you with good fueling, but timing needs to be adressed at that amount of boost. The Unltrasafeguard will not only provide good knock correction to keep the car alive but will also provide the ability to clamp your MAP input (Which you cannot run your car without doing) and provide a static timing retard per lb of boost.

the other thing I would be concerned about is that RRFPRs increase fueling by raising the fuel pressure. Adjustable ones can increase as much as 15psi/lb of boost. Although the 6:1 plate is most likly an ok fit for your setup, I would be careful that you don't run your fuel pressure up too high when going all the way to 10psi. RRFPR is great for 5psi and 6psi cars, but an more than that and you are going to be running your fuel pressure dangerously high.
I am not sure if the 6:1 plate means 6 psi/lb of boost, but that might be what it is. so if stock fuel pressure is 35psi at WOT. and you are adding 6*10psi boost = 60psi to that, you will see ~90psi fuel pressure in the lines........ I have seen cars handle 80 before, but I am not knowlegable enough about it to tell you where a reasonable limit would be. Get a fuel pressure gauge while you are at it if you are serious about this setup. You will need it! you are also going to need a upgraded regular FPR for use with the WRX fuel pump. I know because I have a WRX pump and stock RS FPR and the FPR is too resrictive. My base fuel pressure is 10psi high. Todd |

Are you saying without a J&S ultrasafeguard my car won't run because of MAP output, If so where do i buy a J&S ultrasafeguard.

Has anyone had any experence with an FTC1 controller. My freind ran it on his 01Rs with a T3/T4 setup and thiunk is would fix my engine management problems. Let me know. Thanks

Use the RS head gaskets
I think you should dump the ProECM chip thing You realy need some kind of timing control The 6-1 RRFPR might be a little rich so the fuel controler is a good ideal. If you get the J&S a long with the other piggy backs the cost will be a round the same as a cheaper stand alone, just something to think about. |

round 300 bucks and you can fully tune your A/F ratios & your timing to your liking. and if you have a laptop you can tune it while you drive and why not just buy injectors instead of having to deal with a RRFPR, I have always been told to stay away from them. From what I have been reading since getting my turbo RS, you are not going to be able to run a turbo kit off a 00RS ECU with piggy backs only...
Your gonna have to go with a standalone. www.carmodifications.com , take a look at the hydra nemisis. Also are those custom up and down pipes to clear the RS cross member? If not, and they are stock wrx design they are not going to fit without a turbo crossmember. 2nd the top mount from a wrx I dont think is going to fit without modifction. You will need some sort of map clamp, or else you wont be able to go over 2-3 psi without the ecu wiggen out. The SAFC is not going to do anything for you on a 2000 cause the ECU will learn around it rather quickly. And You'll probably need injectors if you plan on ruinning over 10psi. Jay |

The proecm chip has an integrated voltage clamp. They also sell a boost referenced timing control chip to retard timing per pound of boost. The chip will also tend to make your car run pretty rich.

I just got a Ftc 1 that ImprezaRSX had on his car. it allows me Fuel, Timing control. With 3D maping. I can hook my laptop to it and it will allow total control. I've been told it is rather user friendly, He had it on his car for quite sometime and didn't have any problems with it. I'll let you know how it treats me.

i am using emanage on my car.
It would work for you. and seems quite similar in function to the ftc1. the setup you have will be great. get some injectors though. You will definitely need them at those boost levels you want to run. good luck. Todd |
