Default 2011 WRX Axle Seal Leaking

Hi All,

Just got my WRX back from the shop and they noted the driver side axle is "seeping" and to just keep an eye on it.

Is this a fairly common thing for the mileage/year? 2011 - 38900 miles. I wouldn't expect it to leak this early but I don't really know what would be the root cause of such an issue, dealer just said they deteriorate over time.

Also they recommended changing the whole axle when the time comes since most of the cost of the repair was labor.

Not common, probably the first time I've heard of it for an 11. Ever have any accidents? I'd guess it's possible you just got a bad seal or wasn't installed quite right from the factory. That would be more likely, even the best manufacturers get a bad component now and again.

No accidents. Yeah wasn't sure what could have caused it and while I did find a few examples of others having axle seal issues, didn't seen super common.
