STi 2014 onwards Open Source
I've been tuning various 2001> WRX and STi for years and I am considering coming back to the brand in a 2014+ model STi, but they don't seem to be as tuneable as they used to be.
I previously used Romraider/Enginuity or ECU Edit proffesional but these don't seem to support the logging and flashing of the later STi. Is this true.....has home tuning of 2014> died a slow death ?

I think a lot of the slow down started when Cobb started hiring guys that were cracking the ECU.
That and professional tuners like the real time flash that you can do with AP, not with the current open source. |

So is there nothing out there for 2014+ for the home tuner ? Not even software to use alongside the Cobb accessport.
Is it just Cobb and the likes of Statified doing off shelf or email tunes. |

It would be better to post this question at RomRaider, where you can hear from the people who actually do the work that you need done.
I haven't been paying much attention to the current state of things (I'm still driving my 2005) but I checked in just now and saw a definition posted for a 2018 model so I'd be surprised if you couldn't log and tune your 2014. I'm a little surprised that there haven't been kickstarter or indiegogo campaigns to create tuning and logging definitions for newer cars. It takes at least a few hours of hard work to make those, and there might be enough interested people to raise a few hundred bucks per vehicle. Pure volunteering has worked amazingly well so far, but crowdfunding seems like a more sustainable model. Plus it could attract more people to get involved in that kind of work. As far as I know there only a couple people doing it, which seems a bit precarious. How many people did Cobb hire? I only know of one, but again I haven't been paying close attention for a few years. |

They are still tuneable, I have been tuning my brothers 2015 sti for quite some time. I even got a merpmod speed density patch for it and other features. Support is there.

Hi Alex
Perhaps it's your thread I saw over on RomRaider yesterday What do you use to download and flash the image because I haven't yet come across a tool that lists these MY. I've used eduedit and ecuflash in the past, but the latest car I've touched is a 2008 hatch. Pm me if you would prefer |

Ecuflash 1.42 to read/write/edit, however I do prefer to use romraider for editing due to the color layout of everything. I use romraider logger for logging.

I was looking to use ECUEdit as I have a pro licence and hoping others were using it, but I will look at Ecuflash. Does Romraider 'out of the box' have defs for editting and logging I've found a 2015 def for BIN viewing but car I'm looking to purchase is a 2014 EDM STi. The newest revision of romraider has most defs, I was able to open my brothers AE5R100V 2015 sti rom in romraider editor without having to add anymore defs.
