Back on topic, though: I've been meaning to reinstall GTA:SA ever since my last (unplanned) PC rebuild. I love that freakin game to death, and MP sounds cool as ****.

MP adds SO much more fun to it. There arent missions per se, and any mods you do wont show up in the game...but holy crap what a good time.

There are a lot of people who cry "cheater" when they have no skill. Its actually fun to harass them and make them more angry. One kid kept running from me and eating to get his health up. I'd stand outside the chicken place waiting for him and he'd run to his car and ride around the block in circles until there was enough distance between us for him to go back in.

When he was eating I stole his car and started ramming it back and forth into buildings. He came out to see his car catch fire and me run from it as it exploded. He was PISSED. I ended up knifing him after he ran out of ammo trying to kill me. You shouldve seen the chat window ahahaha

It will NOT work if you have any version of SA other than 1.0 (the one WITH hto coffee). If you have anything higher you have to downgrade. Rockstar gets mad when people post links to downgraders...so you'll have to search for that yourself.

I just wish mods would work if every client had the same car mod installed. I wanted to run a WRC game mode with all the sultans being the WRC impreza lol.

BTW...call me retarded but for the first time I noticed the sultan is actually AWD. I held the ebrake in the "civic" and the front tires did burn outs (FWD). In one of the muscle cars I held ebrake and the tires didnt budge (RWD). In the sultan the fronts spin...but at half the speed of the civic when the ebrake is down. I thought that was REALLY cool.

correct. unless there is dust on the box and you live in the middle of nowhere. then you might have a chance.

Bad things to expect...just so you brace your mental self for it:

Cheaters: There are people who hack. Move on to someone else

Cheat whining: Chat at times is 90% whining about cheating. Ignore it.

Cheat accusations: Sometimes when you kill someone they accuse you of cheating.

Drops: network lag spikes cause disconnects. You can reconnect inside of one minute. The best way to tell is to look at your radar. If nobody is moving, you've disconnected. Chat still displays when you disco.

Syncing: Sometimes you hit someone and their health doesnt go down immediately. If you have high ping, or they have high ping...its because syncing hasn't happened yet. Give it time.

Remember the server/client version is still .01b so its still "beta". If you are tolerant and patient with technology and its pitfalls you'll be ok. If you punch things when you die in video games...don't bother.

Since the game world is so huge, sometimes you have to drive a bit to find people. I plan to correct that on my server by making everyone spawn closer.

Best bet is to place the waypoint on your map in a frequented area. Also...the different gang/race/whatever you select chooses where you spawn. If you are on novacaine (fun server) choose grove, police, or balla (imho). The less you hit left/right at char select screen...the better the chance you'll spawn near people.

Remember...people are lazy

In any case, I play without my DVD ('no CD' fix) so it shouldn't make a difference.
