Question help me find my rally car!?!?

hey there i-clubbers...

i've been looking for MONTHS now... and am not having much luck!

i've got the goods for the car...
sponsorship money to purchase the car...
i just need to FIND THE CAR....

running or not...

dents, dings... ok fine....

i can fix it...

here's what i want...

1993 - 1995 Impreza
Sedan, coupe or wagon (prefer wagon! )
1.8L engine
2WD
5 Speed

$$$ 2k or less

can this really be THAT HARD??

yes i've searched my local classifieds... and on line at autotrader and cars.com... and i do it every day, week, month... and have been for some time...

i will travel nearly anywhere if the car is drivable to drive it home...

and will travel to west coast if it needs to be trailered...

if any of you have leads, ideas, links, sites... something i am missing....???? check your local classifieds/auctions even...

help! !!!

idea is to run the production class w/this lil sucker beginning next Feb. - - that means i have a LOT of work to do!!

email or post here, any ideas you may have!!

thanks...

Jamie

Is this just your first post here on the i-Club? Thought you would've done this sooner

Still looking... and finding people charging waaaaay too much for those 2WD Imprezas. I liked this one from a dealer:

me: "So how about $2000 for that 1993 Brighton coupe with 80k miles on it?"
dealer: "What? This Impreza is a 2WD Impreza! It's rare! Only so many were made. Anyone can find an AWD Subaru, but this one is a collector's item!"

???
Well I won't let on what the rest of the conversation was about since it shouldn't be repeated in front of a lady, but I'm sure you can guess

...and the search continues...

Subie Gal, you might want to try here:
http://www.copartfinder.com/cgi-bin/select.dtw/disp

Typically used parts, but you may be able to purchase an entire chassis, drivetrain, and with some body work...give it a try.

Have you seen this? I don't know what's up with the $1.00 price.

But it is AWD

Is the FWD stipulation more of a thing to keep the price down, or are you trying to fit into a specific ClubRally classification?

Wink

has to be FWD....

production rules dictate it... there are multipliers that would push me into PGT if i get AWD...

keep lookin! thanks!

Here's a FWD sedan for 2500. There were a couple more listed in the Excite classifieds that were close to your price range. I haven't checked the local classifieds but I'll give them a shot too. Hope this helps.

Jamie -

There is a 2wd green 94 wagon (doesn't say whether auto or manual) in Utah from a private seller at $2800 - owner's # (801) 302-8128.

A 93 blue 2wd sedan at NJ State Auto Auction for $2220 (again, no trans type, but if you have the VIN decoder, this is the VIN JF1GC244XPK528289 - that should tell you). [edit - couldn't find the thread with the full decoder in it, but the trans code is place 11, and that 5 is the same as the 5 on another 5 speed - I am almost positive this is a manual).

(Both of these are on http://www.autotrader.com )

There is a 93 sedan on ebay right now from Garland Texas that is currently at $462.

There are tons more on autotrader but they don't list the price. Looks like you'll have to go all the way back to 93 to get one real cheap.

Or perhaps closer to your heart - tons of 90-93 Legacy L's can be had for under $2k.

Should be able to use most Impreza parts, too.

Pbsh duh, an auto broker's license! Why didn't I think of that one sooner. I have a friend... well I'll have him surf the local auctions (the big state auto auction place is 10 minutes from where I live).

Can't believe I didn't think of that. He found a 2000 S4 for $19k for me a few months ago... mmm, 380bhp... *drool*

oop, off subject... one more lead to follow!

Can't you just get AWD and convert it to FWD? Converting to RWD has been done before..

I got an answering machine when I called this guy. The area code in Richmond is 804. The car seems to meet your parameters, but I can't tell if its AWD from the add. Good luck!!
