Default OT Fitness Thread 2009

Once more, new year, new thread!

Goals, progress, what have you, lets see it.

I'll keep my goals simple; take 500 raw for a ride on the bench. We'll see how it goes.

Best,
Chris

Got my brown belt in judo; now I need to make it look like I desrve it.

I'm going to start hitting the weights again before judo this year, just to maintain strength. No specific goal.

I haven't cycled in 15 years, previously was a juniors racer. I think it is about time to get back on the saddle. Just got a used Scat with ultegra 10 spd. No excuses now, dammit!

I'm about 1/2 way done, but 2009 is around the corner, so here's my info:

Age: 31
Height: 6'8"
Start Date: Sept. 1st. 2008
Starting Weight: 285
Current Weight: 250
Goal Weight: 215
Goal Date: June 1st.
Bike: 2008 25" Ventana El Rey

Fitness Goal: Get in shape, loose weight. Really nothing competitive at this point, but I'm a competitive person, so I'll probably find something to compete in once I get in better shape. I'd like to be able to run 6 minute miles again.

Method: Mountain Biking 2-3 times a week with at least a 1 hour climb per session, running 3-6 miles 1-2 times per week, tennis 1-2 times per week, and riding my bike back and fourth to school (10 mi round trip) 4 times per week.

Reward: Being able to go to the beach with my shirt off.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be negative about weight, the goal weight just looked universally low to me.

OK, I missed out on the 08 thread since it was like 15 pages the first time I saw it...and I have too much ADD for catching up on that isht

My goals: lose some paunch, keep it off. Simple, right?

My plan? When I'm on evening watch (Jan-March and July-Sep) either 30mins-1hr on the elliptical trainer at the house when I get up or running when I get up (problem with running is it's either too cold Jan-Feb, or too hot, July-August) plus some chinups and pushups at the house.

Daywatch (other 6 months out of the year) hit the gym at the office after work for a mix of running and weights.

I think I want to ease up on the heavy weights as I want to slim down, so I'll probably stick to high-rep lower weight workouts and cardio mixed with a good diet.

My main problems are dinner and beer. I usually eat a bag of instant oatmeal for breakfast, a small salad or baked chicken breast for lunch, and then a big(ger) dinner and a few beers at night when I'm on days.

I know what I need to work on - hopefully this thread will keep me working on it

Good luck all!!

PS-when I weighed myself this morning (after a nice steak roast dinner and 7 beers for NYE) I was 177.5 (of course yesterday I was 174.5 - I tend to fluctuate a few pounds a day). My goal is 165.

I'm old and the body is breaking down, so my goal is to drop some weight to help my ankles and knees, and get stronger.

Weight right now: 205 Goal Weight: 185
Current Bench: 335 Goal: 375
Current Squat: 335: Goal: 450
Current Deadlift: 425: Goal: 500

Plan for the new year:
Weight train 3x a week, run once a week, crossfit WOD once or twice a week. I'm also going to add jumping rope a few days of the week as well as some increase MMA training to help drop the weight.
