I just get my reply back from Ian, and he says the 91 lWG pulls I sent him look good.
He did suggest that I swap out my plugs though, since they are 8 years old.

Like I was saying before, knock readings in the feedback column on acceleration is normal from everything that I have read.

Knock during a shift is normal, and it's not under load so it won't affect the engine like a high load knock greater than -4.
Another thing to note is when do you actually start a pull from 2500 rpm in 3rd or 4th gear?
Have you had a chance to look at any logs from today? Send them to my e-mail so I can look at them. [email protected]

It seems to be getting better though. Does this sound normal?
I forget what year your car is and I'm on my phones so I can't see your info but I have also heard that older cars with worn out bushings can cause things to move a bit more and create more noise. I know I get fbkc on very low rpm with high requested torques. My intercooler also rubs on the bottom of my hood duct at times and I randomly get fbkc.

I get a 10.8 afr at wot on my aem wideband and my car runs strong as hell but I still get some fbkc at random. Never through a wot pull though unless I hit a bump or something while logging.

Im curious what the % is for each year. I would assume less of the 09+ guys with wrx are stage 2 than older because many buy a wrx new and can't afford to go stage 2. I would think a higher % of Sti guys go stage 2 because they obviously had more money to spend.

Then again maybe that's not the mind set of the Sti owners... they maybe bought the Sti in hopes it was superior and they would not have to mod it.

I know/have met 5 3g wrx in mentor that are stock/stage 1. So far I'm the only stage 2(+) I've run into on the street. Lots of them on forums though.
im beyond what would be concidered stg 2.

I bought an STi because I wanted the 6spd and the DCCD, not because I wasn't planning on sinking a lot of money into it. "staging" and "protuning" are just terms that were started by Cobb as power packages for the wrx aftermarket. Stage 2 is a tbe and maybe in intake, beyond that it get's fuzzy on what is covered in the "stage." FWIW, I plan on going a little farther than the tbe and intake. I guess I would be a "stage 2.5" STi.

Haha it's the added a resonator and sold a lot of my parts mod. He will be born any day now and I already have the mod itch. Plus I got a raise at work. I'll give it a few months too see how the financial aspect plays out.. But we all know how that goes... I just finished building a custom t4 30r and it needs me to build it a uppipe and down pipe.

I've got a 2011 STI, bone stock. Bought it for the brembos, DCCD, 6spd, and the alcantara seats

I also got it knowing that I wanted to do copious amounts of autocross and track days, as well as knowing that in 10+ years I want to turn it into a stage rally or rallycross car. That, combined with the fact that I wanted the best all-season daily driver car that was on the market today, and my choices were very limited

Brembo brakes was another selling point for me as well. Can't believe I forgot about those...

Started my spark plug swap this morning, I'll be picking up the new plugs at work this afternoon, and finishing tonight.

It's not really all that hard of a process, for those of you that haven't done plugs yet. Definitely not something I'd pay a dealer to do.

Good to know! I paid the dealer for mine at 60k along with some other stuff and will have to do them again in 10k miles.

Yeah, it involves removing a couple parts (intake, battery, and for me, wiper fluid reservoir) but then it's pretty much cake. I'd be more than happy to help with yours or anybody else's.

There are a couple videos on YouTube that show most of the install, one is a time lapse, which is the best one. They are both performed on GD STi's, but it can't be too different for a GR.

It's basically just getting everything out of the way so you can get to the coil packs, and then it's a bit of dexterity getting them out. The right extensions, a plug removal socket, and a flex head ratchet made it cake.

Thats good to know. I was thinking they were going to be a pain in the butt. It gives me a reason to go out and buy some new tools as well... I dont have any flex heads.

For all of you Facebook users, I just wanted to give you all a heads up. One of my Akron buddies, Branden, is starting a club called NEO Tuning. Right now during startup, they are looking to get feedback and new membership. I took the liberty of adding most of you that I figured would be interested. They are planning regularly occurring events, such as meets, cruises, etc down in the Akron area.

Anyways, here is a link to the group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/236737406415829/ Join up if you are interested.
