STi Stage 2 at 1/8th
we finally got to take out the STi to the local track. Here are the results
1st run. 60-1.758 ET- 8.623 MPH- 79.109 Clutch slipped in 2nd/3rd 2nd run 60-1.822 ET -8.942 MPH- 76.122 Missed 2nd Clutch slipped in 3rd I feel like the second the run was the best. The first run was in the right lane and felt the some tire spin in the top of 1st. I took the second run in the left lane and the car gripped much better in my opinion if I didnt miss 2nd that coulve easily been a 8.4 or 8.3 run. Open for opinions or advice.

1.7 is a good launch, but your car seems to get slower down the track. stg 2 sti's are easily capable of runing 8.0's at 86mph. possibly need to shift faster.

you might be right. I also has to do with the fact we drive for about 45min to get to the track and didnt really let the car cool down before we ran it. I still feel like a new clutch would bring some of that top end back too.

All the little things add up, trust me...
'05 STi Cobb Stage 2 Helix catted down-pipe RiftsWRX pro-tune BFG g-force sport tires 62***176; I've pulled a few 1.6's, but without the RE070's I don't expect those to be the norm. |

Whats your opinion on that second run? I just think if 2nd gear wasnt missed it couldve been a 8.4 to 8.3 run. we plan on going out there next week but this allowing proper cool down before each run.
Were probably going to put the stock turbo heat shield back on too. The underside of the intercooler on the left side was very hot. I think 8.2 next week is not out of the question. That 8.1 run posted was at 84mph so weather permitting I think we will be righ on it. Last edited by 93 GSX TURBO; 10-06-2006 at 10:06 AM. |

The conditions you need to make a great run: 1. Go at night. 2. Look for ambient temps to be 65***176; or less. 3. Have no more than a ***189;-tank of gas. 4. Start with 35 psi in all your tires, and lower as necessary. 5. Avoid the water-box. 6. Do a slight tire-chirp before the tree to clean the tires. 7. Try 1 high-rpm (6,000 rpm) clutch-dump to get a feel for the track. 8. When shifting, concentrate on shoving your left foot into the carpet, your right hand will do it's job just fine. 9. Run the car to near redline in every gear. 10. Practice, Practice, Practice... |

I'm hoping to get a 7.9 next year with a 50/50 alky/water set-up. I feel the car is capable of an 8.0 as it sits, I just haven't been able to put everything together to make it happen.

^ Sounds like you need some practice too. I'm basing my opinions from my results when my car was a stg 2, a long time ago. I ripped off 8.0's every time I went to the local 8th mile, txs tbe and utec that never had a custom tune.

For example; my only performance mod (other than the AP) is a Helix catted down-pipe, not a full TBE, which certainly makes a difference. Also, I only gained an average of 10 whp/2 wtq with my pro-tune, which shaved a mere .026 off of my 8th mile time. |

i think so. a stg2 sti with a custom tune should see high 7's. there are a few floating around this forum somewhere.
or you could go with a 35r and hit 7 flat Last edited by burnin4; 10-06-2006 at 03:27 PM. |

BTW, to go along with that timeslip, it might be helpful if you posted your exact mods. GT35R + ... + ... + ... = 7.0.

UR 35r kit, tbe, injectors, fp, utec, fmic, + topspeed tune on vp import (stock block/heads). the 7.0 is my best et to date, never been able to duplicate it again, but I've run a few 7.1's on my new cobb stg2 block/heads. I've also trapped as high as 102mph, compared to the 95mph on the 7.0 run.
