04 STi swap into 02 WRX
I have an 04 STi swapped 1995 Impreza LX coming to me in a week or so and I am trying to make some decisions.
I have searched for some info about swapping the STi motor into my bugeye then taking the EJ205 and putting that into the 95 LX but I can't find any Comprehensive information about wiring the 04 into my 02. I found information about the DBW system and the Injector plug differences. Is there anything else I need to keep in mind when performing the swap? or Should I just leave the EJ257 in the LX. I am trying to decide what car gets what motor and what car to sell after I am done swapping. One of them has to go but I would rather sell the LX with the EJ205 installed and keep my bugeye with the EJ257 The LX has everything from the brembos, 6 spd, etc. And I want all of that in the 02.

I would keep the LX and sell the WRX, you will get way more money for a stock car than a swapped car and you will have NO wiring nightmare...plus the LX would be a way funner platform to drive with it's much lighter weights.

+1 for the LX
cheep insurance 5-600 lbs lighter rare only minus is running bigger than 225 width tires is tough the swap can be done, the best way would be to strip both cars to the frame and move everything back and forth FWIW the harnesses are nothing repeat nothing alike is this one of the cobb guys car? |

The guts came from a cobb car.
I think I will keep the LX. I can get 12k out of the WRX. That will leave another 5.5k for mods after the LX and swap is paid off. Last edited by overlord; 02-26-2007 at 11:50 PM. |

Well I have stripped down the LX it needs new metal on the left hand side. It will need a new radiator support and front bumper beam.
On top of that I will need a neetronics DCCD controller, strip out the ABS stuff, Need new airbags, wiring all of the non engine stuff, I need a full interior, new rear lateral links (they are broke on the right side), Basically this 95 needs a lot of work that I dont want to do. So I am keeping the 02, swapping in the ej257, tranny, brakes, etc. Then the EJ205 swap will be up for sale. The 95 was barely put together. Oh well by the time I am done I will have a complete sti swap for less than 4k. That is not bad in my mind. |

I have the 6 speed installed and the brakes are in as well.
I will be installing the longblock only, and using an AP to get tuned. I will be getting Hydra eventually so I can run AVCS. The stock ECU with the AP will be used for emissions only. As the longblock install gets underway I will post pics and detail the steps taken. |
