Default evo seats to wrx install with detailed instructions

For the people interested in this here is a few tips.

the slider on the evo seats has a 5mm allen. just realize it likely wont come out with simply using the allen wrench. The bolts on them have blue thread lock on them. The bolt is about an inch long. I had to cut the rail off with a sawzall. Than peal back the sides. Cut the sides off to get on the button head allen bolt with vice grips after machining the bolt. I had no idea it was going to be this hard when I started. So sawzall and dreamal tool are your freinds. This process may take several hours per seat. I am going to try heat on this next one as thread lock will break down after a few hundred degrees. I will let you know how that goes.

desided heat was not such a good idea as the allen heads were already striped out so there would be no point. Been using Rodman sawzall blade. It cuts it pretty quick but my blade is nearly gone. here hacksaw blade is pretty good.

Aftrer making my cuts. I took the dremal and cut the top and bottom of the allen head and removed them with vice grips. This proved to work rather well.

Nearly ready to install my drivers seat bracket and test fit it to the car with my wedge seat adaptor. Oh that is after a quick trip to the hardware store for new hardware to replace the allen head. I think bolts will work this time.

seems I am stuck for the moment as the seller of the bracket likely ground them down in the front. not allowing for height adjustment at all. So I pmed him see what his responce is. not very happy right now. As this causes problem with moving these seats forward and backwards. of coarse he never mentioned this when I bought it. Then found the problem when I went looking at what the bracket is suppose to look like. So looks like I will be contacting wedge this next week. As this simply wont work.

Anyone know where I can find the pic of what a standard recaro bottom of the seat looks like. I am wondering if I will have to trim some spacers off.

Just look up my thread on this. I used the sparco seat bracket and I was able to use the stock Evo recaro sliders.

hey hybrid gti 2, im actually in the process of installing some evo seats into my car right now and I'm having trouble with the passenger seat, rear inner bolt that connects the wedge bracket to the car. The bolt seems to be too short to bolt the bracket down to the car because the adapter is 1) thicker, and 2) sticks out a bit. Did you reuse all your stock bolts or did you have to replace that bolt that I'm referring to? The other bolts fit into the other 3 holes fine.

and did you guys bolt on the bracket to the chassis first? and then bolt on the seat/sliders onto the bracket? will this be easier?

I have the seats/sliders/brackets all bolted together already. can this cause install problems?

well i had to replace the passenger seat rear inner bolt because the bracket wasn't a good fit. i got a longer hex bolt from home depot and it went in. the driver's side bracket was a better fit and i was able tor euse the stock bolt.

Question, were you guys able to cover the rear bolts in the seats? I don't think I can reuse the stock plastic pieces that used to cover the two rear bolts on each seat. looks kinda funky with golden/silver bolts showing.

oh and another thing, what is that wire/plug that connects to the seat belt buckle on both the evo seats and the wrx driver seats? I assume it was important so i took out the whole cable/plug from the stock wrx seats and reused it on the evo seats. However, I couldn't figure out how to remove the plug from the evo seats so I just cut the two wires. Figured Id just splice em back in if I wanted to sell the seats.
