Has there been a decision regarding the Albon pass on Perez last week?

I think it was fine, but I may be recalling the commentary after the end of the race.

I wonder what happened with the “don’t go slower than 1:45 on your out lap” rule.

I don’t recall ever seeing a fiasco like that in my 20+ years of SCCA racing.
I’d call it ‘amateur’ but even the real amateurs do better.

They went out with less than that on the clock I think.

It is under investigation, but not sure what could come of it.

Another horrifying crash, this time Peroni in an F3 car, going airborne after running wife and hitting a sausage curb.

Seems to have landed upside down on the halo on the tires. 🤯

It was real close.

Hulkenburg cleared pit lane at 1:54 left. The two Ferraris were at 1:43. That assumes that the clock that was shown on the broadcast was accurate.

The grid:

Pos Driver Team Time Gap
1 Leclerc Ferrari 1:19.307 163.397 mph
2 Hamilton Mercedes 1:19.346 0.039
3 Bottas Mercedes 1:19.354 0.047
4 Vettel Ferrari 1:19.457 0.150
5 Ricciardo Renault 1:19.839 0.532
6 Hulkenberg Renault 1:20.049 0.742
7 Sainz McLaren 1:20.455 1.148
8 Albon Red Bull No Time
9 Stroll Racing Point No Time
10 Raikkonen Alfa Romeo No Time
11 Giovinazzi Alfa Romeo 1:20.517
12 Magnussen Haas 1:20.615
13 Kvyat Toro Rosso 1:20.630
14 Norris McLaren 1:21.068
15 Gasly Toro Rosso 1:21.125
16 Grosjean Haas 1:20.784
17 Perez Racing Point 1:21.291
18 Russell Williams 1:21.800
19 Kubica Williams 1:22.356
20 Verstappen Red Bull No Time

Yep, Q3 was a total cluster you know what!
It was almost laughable. Nobody wanted to be the first one out.
Who strapped a F1 rocket engine on the back of the Renault cars.
Stroll finally has a good quali.

Again will call Merc 1-2, barring any stupid **** and Ferrari actually getting its act together. But I'll be rooting for the Renaults this time around - would like to see them get some well-deserved points for their efforts. Also expect to see Verstappen last more than a lap since he can't blow the start from the back of the grid (right?) and hopefully storm his way cleanly up towards the front.

Vettel tossed it again. Ruin Stroll's race.
Mercedes are just stalking Leclerc now.
Maxi hits someone again.
Lots of penalties so far.

Vetlol and crashtappen.

Feel bad for STR - guy was doing everything right.

One type of excitement we can hope for is BOT undercut.
Here we go HAM undercut.

Good tussle between Hami and Leclerc. Leclerc pretty tough to get around.
Hami tires finally went off. Now its Bottas turn.
Just gotta love that sourpuss look in the Merc garage.

Great hard earn win for Leclerc.
Good job by Renault too.

Looks like LEC took some lessons from Austria and did not yield / defended well against HAM.

Merc pit stop for Ham: 2.6 sec
Ferr pit stop for Lec: 2.3 sec

If Merc had matched Ferrari pit stop, Ham would have come out 1/4 sec in front of Lec. Not sure he could have kept 1st against Ferrariís straight line speed.

Exciting race, though it wasnít nearly as exciting watching Bottas have a go after Hamiltonís tires went off.

Agreed. I doubt that even if Hamilton has passed successfully he could have survived LeClerc with DRS.

Am I the only one that canít stand the Italian crowd? It always irks me when they boo a driver on the podium who did nothing wrong, just because he doesnít wear red.

They're booing Mercedes specifically, really. They didn't boo Vettel in 2008, or Rubens in 2009.

And they hardly booed at all this year.

Because Bottas is meh. Dude still has zero killer instinct. Bottas 2.0

Leclerc had a great drive. Dude was killing it every Parabolica - seemed like he went quite a bit wider than the mercs and used all of the track up until his right side tires were just about over the white line. Then the Ferrari was just super fast on the straight. Mercedes needed Red Bull's babby sized wings to keep up.

Leclerc definitely swerved to block Ham late after Leclerc locked up into the chicane and went off. Glad he didn't get a penalty though.

The title sponsorship agreement between the Haas Formula 1 team and Rich Energy has been terminated with immediate effect, with the team citing "a corporate restructuring process" at Rich as the impetus.
While the Rich Energy deal was the inspiration behind Haas' current black-and-gold livery, the latest decision will not impact the primary colour scheme of the VF-19, which now simply run without the branding of its now-former title sponsor.

The new energy drink company had come on board with Haas before the start of the year, having previously explored opportunities with other teams like Williams, Force India and McLaren.

But the nascent partnership between Rich and Haas was placed in doubt as early as July, when Rich Energy's then-CEO William Storey announced he had "terminated" the deal with the American F1 team due to "poor performance".

The deal was seemingly preserved by shareholders and Rich Energy's branding has remained on the VF-19 in the subsequent races, including last weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

But with team boss Gunther Steiner confirming in late August that Rich would take a final decision on the contract before the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, a statement from the American outfit has now confirmed an "amicable" end to the partnership.

"Haas F1 team and Rich Energy have amicably agreed to end their partnership together in the FIA Formula One World Championship with immediate effect," the statement read.

"While enjoying substantial brand recognition and significant exposure through its title partnership of Haas F1 Team in 2019, a corporate restructuring process at Rich Energy will see the need for a revised global strategy.

"Subsequently, Haas F1 Team and Rich Energy concluded a termination of the existing partnership was the best way forward for both parties.

"Haas F1 Team would like to express its thanks and best wishes to the stakeholders at Rich Energy."

Great race. Stewards got everything right in my opinion. FIA though need to find a better solution to inform the drivers what is coming now that a Halo completely blinds them. Perhaps a light on their steering wheel, like the blue flag light, would be ideal. Although they are trying their best to not beach themselves. These simple, older, and punishing tracks are best for this sport.

Leclrec just became a God in Italy.

I was excitingly watching the timing board to see Russel almost come in front of Vettel and Raikkonen.

Mercedes were cautious to not blow up an engine trying to match the Ferrari pace.

That's a bit unfair. BOT tyres were already halfway through their useful life, unlike HAM who had the benefit of brand new tyres. He did make a few mistakes which ruined any chance he had and couldn't hound LEC like HAM was able to.

Yeah, LEC used the track to his advantage. He knew exactly where he was vulnerable and did a masterful job to position himself to defuse first HAM and then BOT attack on him.

He was a little shaky earlier, especially with him cutting the first chicane, and then making that move on HAM - though it was right on the edge and I appreciate the stewards NOT calling it.

glad this is out of the way.

Agree - going back to it - what VET did was really dangerous - he was OFF track and coming back on. STR was on track and came back on racing line. IMO both should have waited till given the all clear - and I'm in support of some system which allows for it. Surprised it's not already in place given that the team does and can inform them of traffic behind them.

And also agree on the MER trying to conserve that engine - they did (IIRC) give BOT the approval to turn it up when mounting a challenge on LEC.
