Default safe to run base ST maps without addtl tuning?

I know Cobb has said thebase ST maps are 95% the same, they've only left some things out for proprietary issues. I'm no professional tuner, but really want to learn on my own. Does anyone know exactly what they left out of the maps??

Is it safe to drive with the base ST maps without putting that 5% back?? (I would run the vf34 93oct)

The things that will be removed will be little tricks for drivability issues etc. The contents of the base maps should contain fueling, ignition, and boost changes common to the staged maps.

It is easy to see what has changed on the map (in the viewable tables). Just load up StreetTUNER, select a table and take a look at it. If it says <Stock Mapping> then you are on a stock base map. Now load up your staged map and see what it looks like. Want to view stock again? Use the 'Revert to stock map' option. If you are offline this will be almost instantaneous. If you are online, each time you do this it will sync ALL tables with changes. (Yeah, do it offline if you are just playing).

That's a good way to compare stock to vf34 ST map, but it's no way to see the difference between ST vf34 and AP vf34.

I'm all loaded on the STvf34 base map, I can't get the ECU to connect with my laptop, i'll tackle that tomorrow.

thanks for the input jon.

Chad.

I uploaded the ST vf34 map today, put a couple hundred miles on it. I can see or feel NO difference between it and the AP vf34 map.

there shouldn't be too many differences. they are the same map (same boost, timing, etc.) except for different platforms of the AP.
