it can be disabled, read the user manual.
This has been discussed in it's own thread at least 5 times on this forum alone, and mentioned no less then twice in this thread alone, which isn't even on topic. |

I'm fairly certain that Subaru is just doing a piss poor job of communicating to them because they seem to be completely in the dark. I almost consider myself better informed through this thread than they are. The simple fact is, it shouldn't be this way. |

Plus sometimes when come to a stop you just wanna roll back a little (ie. in a parking spot) you just leave the clutch depressed when you stop to roll back. With hill assist you have to let go on the clutch to be able to roll back. Again not a big deal to get used to, it would just be nice to be able to disable it if I wanted. Same goes for traction control. I've never owned a car with it before so I'm sure it's gonna take a little getting used to, but at least I can turn that system off when I want. |

It's only on for maybe two seconds then you roll back. I want to say I think it's only on when you are in gear as well...have to check that.

The hill assist cannot be disabled on the WRX, only STI.
And if you say we're wrong again, you come down here and I'll watch you try to disable it on mine. And it is not a nice feature... maybe if I had a switch to turn it on or off you could argue it's a nice feature, but having it forced on 100% of the time does more harm than good. I'm going to get the factory service manual and see what it says. If I can get the schematic for it, or at least some more info on where the thing that pulls the parking brake is, I'll get it disabled one way or another. Some times you can use rolling back to your advantage like when someones right on your ass sitting at a red light. The look on peoples faces are priceless. |

DS this issue on 2013 WRX has already been discussed recently on a different thread. The fact is hill-assist cannot be disabled on WRX model and is only an STI feature. And hill-assist will only engage if you're in 1st gear on an incline. You can look for proof in the online manual for the 2013 WRX/STI. If you're disabling this feature by other means (cutting a wire or something like that) you'll risk damaging your traction control system.

Anyone heard a timeline for NW/Seattle orders? I place an order for a base hatch on 9/30 with short throw, all weather matts and a rack with no news from the dealer yet(i do have a VON and SOA confirmed that it isn't on hold).
It does looks like the local deal websites have added a number of cars to their sites lately with the "in transit" tag on them but my dealer has said that he's seems cars ordered around my time beginning to have eta's. Seems like a delivery is coming in soon? |
