Thumbs up New Rally school and Rally-X dates.

I think I'm going to go to all of these.

SCCA Rally-X, Jean NV Oct 15

CRS/SCCA ProRally School and Rally-X Holtsville, CA Oct 28/29

SCCA Rally-X, Jean NV Nov 4

I'll sleep during the SCCA class. (Shiv, Joel do you remember how criminally boring it was?...dang)

Joel, I assume you will be killing us softly with your Grand Am songs at one or more of these smack-downs?

anyway-hope some of you guys are going.

Angus-who thinks it's reasonable to drive to Holtsville for a Rally-X.

Hello,

If my car survives t-hill, I might just come teach those rally folks a lesson or two - IN MY CAR! That'll be a first...

As for the rally school / rally x, you don't have to attend the school to do the rally x. So I would go down there for the second day only.

And finally, you missed the Sept. 16 paintball place rally x in corona or where ever it's supposed to be.

so is it worth doing the rally school part? I was planning to do that, but the description of "criminally boring" doesn't sound too good.

Hello,

I think if you've never done a rally school, you will learn lots about rally in general and the mechanics of how a rally works (including how stages work, which parts of the stage you race in, where your timing starts, etc.). You will also learn techniques to deal with "late apexes" versus "early apexes" versus "rock apexes" (where who cares what the correct line is, there's a rock in the way waiting to crush people who take the "correct" apex!).

The school did teach us a bit. The problem was that the school could have been 2 hours long instead of what felt like 60 or 70 hours all in one day But actually, the second part of the school was really cool too. We got on course and they taught in the dirt things like how to flick the car, how to control over and understeer in the dirt, how to fly around a dirt skidpad, etc.

It was great fun, just the boring lecture overshadowed the fun in our memories. You'll note in the great smackdown article in SCC, there was no mention (or a single sentence) of the in-class instruction

Thumbs up

thanks for the review. I think i will try to do the school because it still sounds like a good intro to all the technical behind-the-scenes stuff. So hopefully i'll see you there!

Unhappy

Whats up... is there a series a little closer to home??

I would really love to run a few Rally-X's before I decide to devote my effort and time to Auto-X...
