Post Questions and opinions needed, please.

Outside of a major mod such as a turbo or supercharger, what mods would be the best bang for the buck, in order of return in performance and importance??
I'm thinking in the area of handling improvements, wheels/tires/brakes and maybe intake/exhaust. But what I NEED to try and understand is - is it REALLY worth it?
Keep in mind that I use my car (MY00 Sedan) as a daily driver and can't afford the risk of a mod where you have to tinker or possibly, break down (MAF sensors due to intake??).
Excuse me if this sounds dumb but my skills are minimum since this is the first car that I ever had that I would even thinking about modding/improving. I'm in lust with my car, what can I say?!
And if I do...I'll probably be back here for more advice('cause the I-Club just too cool!).
Thanks for any comment, direction or opinions....

Good tires and a Whiteline adjustable sway bar would be a good start. For a MY00 intake just get a high flow panel filter(Amsoil) and re-route the intake tube into the fender. For a 5 speed I would also reccomend the Kartboy shifter and bushings.

i agree with og. the first thing i did was to get rid of those stock tires.i also recommend going with a wider size tire, 215/50r16.i read that even 225/50 r16 fit without rubbing

Cool

I have a MY00 RS sedan as well. Although I plan to go forced induction eventually, here's what I'm doing until then.

18mm rear sway bar, for more balanced cornering on an otherwise stock suspension.

Cold-air intake (either a cheep DIY job, or possibly Imprezars.com's intake for a little over $100). Should open up the top end a little. I don't think there's a problem blowing sensors on the MY00 since we have the MAP sensor instead of the MAF or MAS.

I'm still researching shifter improvements, but I plan to do something to make it smoother (if not shorter).

Stickier tires as soon as I can justify it.

I'd say that's the first few mods anyone should make and they're not terribly expensive or risky.

My $0.02,

-Red

I'm in the same boat. My car's also a daily driver that I can't afford to have break down. So far, in my experience, the biggest bangs for the buck for a better driving experience have been tires, rear sway bar, stainless steel brake lines, and a catback built by my local muffler shop, 2.25" dia. to a Flowmaster. Add a good aftermarket suspension as well and you'll be off to a great start.
